Hello friends:
-Many thanks to all who volunteered to help set-up, work and who donated clothing items for our first Annual Fall Fashion Fling which was last Saturday. It was very successful according to organizer Kathryn Roberts. We served 192 people, 57 families, 93 adults and 97 kids. Everything has been cleaned up, organized and packed for the next “fling.” We are grateful to Kathryn, Shawn Hodgeman and Jacob Lamb for all the late nights in completing the set-up and working all day last Saturday. We’re also grateful for those who assisted: Patti Van Wey, Karen Yates, Powers Alder, Jennifer Coen, Janae Fuller, Steven Fuller, Sharol McMullin, Katie Dye, and Pastor Andrew who was available to help and talk with our guests. Founder John Wesley’s belief is “Faith in Action” in viewing that loving God and loving one’s neighbor are the same mission.
-Please join us this Sunday for YOUTH SUNDAY! Our youth will be greeting you as you arrive for 11 a.m. worship. They will participate as ushers and liturgist, too. Pastor Andrew’s message, “Finding Rhythm: Rooted Where We Are” is based on the book of Colossians, chapter 2, verses 6-7.
-Calling all Acolytes! Attention all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or friends: If you have or know of a child, 6 years or older, who would like to be an Acolyte, please sign them up! We begin having acolytes again on Sunday, September 6th – bringing the light of Christ to the altar (at the beginning of the service) and taking the light out (at the end of the service). Cheryl Cooley will put everyone on a rotating schedule so folks can plan ahead. Any questions, please reach out to Cheryl at 660-232-5719.
-SAVE THE DATE: SEPTEMBER 13 FOR OUR 1970S POTLUCK MEAL FOLLOWING THE WORSHIP SERVICE. Hosted by Shawn Hodgeman and Jacob Lamb, this will be a fun and delicious takeback to the 1970s. Bring your favorite 1970s dish to share. We are in need of entrees, side dishes and dessert. We also need volunteers to help Shawn and Jacob in the kitchen. Feel free to dig out your old bell bottoms, platform shoes and leisure suits!
-Blessing Box: Our article on the Blessing Box hit this week’s Lexington News. Hopefully, the article will reach everyone in the community for service and for filling the box with non-perishable, unexpired food items and hygiene items. Thank you to all who have continued to keep this food ministry filled!
