Hello friends:
I hope you’re enjoying June 2026 and that all the dads out there have a wonderful Father’s Day this weekend. God bless all the dads – whether you have children or not or are a dad to a pet. And may we send our prayers to the greatest father of all – our father in heaven.

-Join us this Sunday, June 21st for our 11 a.m. worship service. Pastor Andrew’s message, “Still Becoming: Strong Enough to be Gentle,” is based on the Gospel of Luke, chapter 15, verses 11-24 (the story of the Prodigal Son).

-A reminder of our Fireworks Fundraiser set for July 1st through 4th. Hours will be: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 1 and 2. And 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., July 3 and 4. We will receive our delivery on June 29th and be setting up on June 30th. We need volunteers to help with set-up and working the sale. We expect to have four-hour shifts. A sign up sheet will be in the hallway outside the sanctuary for the shifts. Plus, we will train. We will be selling fireworks in the Buddy Black Family Life Center which will be air conditioned! Plus – you will be supporting our church ministries.

-Vacation Bible School is this coming week: June 22nd through the 26th starting at 6 p.m. at the Presbyterian Disciples Church. At 6 p.m. there will be a meal (provided by LUMC Women on the 23rd). On Friday, June 26th at 6 p.m. there will be a closing service followed by a pool party at 7 p.m. at the Lexington Pool. We have a flyer available in the church hallway and attached here where you can scan the QR code and register your child/children.

-Fall Fashion Fling: Please pick up a flyer in the hallway at the church. Start collecting the clothing you’d like to donate, jewelry, handbags, scarves, coats, gloves, etc. We will take any size – newborn to adult. Clothing should be clean and without holes. Please donate to Kathryn Roberts, 1214 Franklin Ave., Lexington. She also needs the following: laundry soap, dryer sheets, white vinegar, 13 gallon trash bags, quart and gallon Ziplock bags. The Fashion Fling set up will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 15th and the sale will be Saturday, August 22nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

-Blessing Box: We are in regular need of nonperishable food for the Blessing Box. Either place your donations in the boxes in the hallway outside the sanctuary or simply place them in the Blessing Box. Hygiene items are welcome, such as: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, combs, shampoo, razors, etc.

-Youth Group meets at 6 p.m. Sunday nights.
-Adult Sunday School, Children’s Sunday School and Young Disciples classes, as well as our choir are on summer hiatus. We will start these back up in mid-August.

-Whispering Winds rehearsal is 9:30 a.m. Sundays.

-We are still in need of Nursery attendants. This is a paid position for 10 a.m. to Noon on Sundays. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Please reach out to Pastor Andrew or Liz J in the church office if interested.

-We are looking for folks interested in learning more about our Sound booth for Sunday mornings. Please reach out to one of our sound booth guys: Phillip Davis, David Cooley, or Bill Fricke – or – reach out to Pastor Andrew.

Hello friends:

-Join us this Sunday, July 14th for our 11 a.m. service which will include communion this week as well as a Noisy offering to benefit church missions. Pastor Andrew’s message, “Still Becoming: Freedom Delayed is Still God’s Concern” based on the Gospel of Luke 4:16-21. This Sunday we will also welcome new member: Patti Van Wey!

-We are in need of help in our Sound Booth this summer! Please reach out to Pastor Andrew, Phillip Davis, Davis Cooley or Bill Fricke if interested in learning the various functions and helping out.

-We will be having a fireworks fundraiser this year by selling fireworks in the Buddy Black Family Life Center on July 1 – 4th. Hours are yet to be determined. We are very much in need of volunteers to help with selling the fireworks, as well as help with delivery and setting up tables as well as cleaning the FLC after the sale is over. Delivery will be June 29th with set up on June 30th. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the hallway – OR – reach out to me in the church office (660-259-2483) or Jennifer Coen: 660-232-4190 or Chelsea Huffman: 660-232-9399.

Our Youth Group is having a Pool Party this Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roger McFadden’s house – across the street from the church. We will provide sandwiches and chips. Please bring candy to make a candy salad!

We will also need volunteers to help with set-up on Saturday, August 15th and to help work the event on August 22nd.
