Bible Grove Missionary Baptist Church

Bible Grove Missionary Baptist Church We are a Christ-centered church of Bible believing, God-fearing people who want to serve the Lord. During the 1860's, a shelter was built by O.M.

Wood and others, near where the present church now stands, for the worship of our Lord. Later on , a small log house was built. In the 1870's, a church was organized. It was one of the eight charter members of the Beech River Baptist Association. The other members were Chapel Hill, Ridge Grove, Fellowship, Jacks Creek, Piney Creek, Mt. Ararat, and Bible Hill.

Good Wednesday evening!
I apologize that I have not been able to do a live Bible Study on here in several weeks. Taking the teaching job and keeping all my other responsibilities has certainly put a strain on my time and schedule. I do believe that, in time, I will get into a manageable groove and be able to make time to get back on track with Wednesday Bible Study. Right now, I am struggling to take care of several things that I am behind on and trying to juggle everything that needs to be done. There continues to be not enough hours in a day.
At the very least, I would like to contribute at least something towards our Lord and His worship during this mid-week pause. In that regard, I offer the following short devotional.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
The psalmist speaks of blessings for the one who shuns the advice of sinners and stays away from trouble. I would contend that, at the very least, the absence of the trouble that comes from sin should be enough to encourage anyone to avoid this hazardous behavior. Yet the promise here is for not just the absence of trouble but the promise of blessings. This is a reminder that God is faithful, loving, and full of grace that He wishes to pour out upon His faithful servants.

Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Do we find joy in the Lord’s truth or is our joy derived from sin? Often, unbelievers think that their happiness is tied to whatever vice or sinful habit they refuse to abandon. Sadly, their stubbornness for sin keeps them from experiencing the true delight of knowing the Lord and His truth. That joy does not come with harmful side effects or miserable repercussions.

Psalm 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
A tree planted by rivers does not have to have deep roots because the source of water is nearby and abundant. In fact, they often have roots that spread out wide to hold to the soil for stability in case of erosion. Not to overemphasize the illustration, but this can speak to how the faith and good behavior of an obedient child of God can spread out and hold together the lives of those around them. Those loved by the obedient servant and those who trust him/her will benefit greatly from the steady and sure life of that faithful servant.

Psalm 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
In contrast, the faithless sinners have no root at all. Their lives shift with the uncertainty of the world and there is no foundation on which they can find peace or build the wisdom they need for life.

Psalm 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
Those sinners will not withstand the Lord’s judgment. His truth will be swift and harsh. They will have no excuse and will suffer for their lack of faith and repentance.

Psalm 1:6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
God knows His children and prospers their way. This does not mean riches and fame. This means they will walk with the Lord, and that is enough. While the enemies of God and unbelievers surely will suffer.

God bless each one who takes the time to read this. I would appreciate any prayers you don’t mind offering up for me and my family. We are very fortunate to have so much love and support among our church family at Bible Grove. Let’s lift each other up in prayer. We have many on our prayer list. I am thankful to know the Lord hears all our prayers and answers according to His will.

I love you all and appreciate your patience with me as I navigate an overwhelmed schedule.
God bless you,
Bro. Andrew
