Montgomery: Preserving Our Legacy, Building Our Future
For decades, Montgomery has been more than just a name. More than just a building. It has been a beacon of hope and a staple in our community; a legacy that has stood the test of time.
We have been on a mission not only to preserve Montgomery’s history but also to build its future for generations to come.
This historic building does not receive financial support or assistance. Instead, it survives solely on the fruits of our labor and the generosity of our community. And yet, Montgomery continues to give back, serving as the heartbeat of our community.
* Opening its doors for families in times of loss.
* Hosting homegoing celebrations and family fellowships.
* Housing programs for youth, seniors, support groups and those in need.
* Supporting families
* hosting community events and activities
* community garden and food drives
* scholarships and so much more
But with all of this comes tremendous expenses and financial strain. The cost of upkeep is staggering. The hard part is that people often only see a building. They don’t see:
* the NEW ROOF
* the electric bill,
* the insurance,
* the repairs,
* the maintenance,
* the sacrifices,
* the volunteers,
* or the people staying up late trying to figure out how to keep everything going.
Everyone talks about how much they love Montgomery, but love must be matched with action if we want this place to remain standing. Too often, people want to use the facility freely, without realizing the burden it places on the few who carry the weight.
Imagine the tragedy if these doors had to close forever.
This is not just about a building, it’s about our history, our culture, and our legacy. If Montgomery is to continue as the cornerstone of our community, it will take a collective effort.
We are asking everyone to see the bigger picture, to step up, and to help us secure the future of Montgomery. Together, we can ensure this NATIONALLY REGISTERED historical landmark continues to serve and inspire for generations to come. www.montgomeryalumni.org
