Happy Thanksgiving! Give THANKS to the Lord...

Today we give thanks for all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. We honor their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting others.

As followers of Christ, we pray for peace throughout the world and for those still living with the weight of war. Veterans, families, and communities all carry that burden.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” – Matthew 5:9

Join us in prayer for people in Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic as they prepare for Hurricane Melissa.

Melissa is a Category 5 storm and is expected to have a catastrophic impact on Jamaica, with up to 30 inches of rain and a 13-foot storm surge predicted. Significant flooding and damage from Melissa have already occurred in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, with additional impacts expected in both countries and in Cuba. We pray especially for Haiti, as Melissa’s impact will worsen the hunger crisis experienced by more than half of the country.

As the needs of those impacted by Hurricane Melissa become clear over the coming days, UMCOR is prepared to support the response efforts of our Methodist partners in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

To give to support those impacted by Hurricane Melissa, visit https://bit.ly/umcoridr and select "IDR - Hurricane Melissa" when asked to choose your preferred gift designation.
