Prayers for Peace, a vigil supporting Ukraine, will be held at the Jessamine County courthouse on Tuesday, March 8th at 7:00 PM. We invite all residents to join in a brief observance as we light the courthouse blue in solidarity for Ukraine. We stand by the many Ukrainian Citizens that have chosen to make Jessamine County home and support those community members effected by Russia's attack on Ukraine.

✨As many of you know, Ukraine has been under attack the last couple of days. We have been constantly corresponding with our contacts in Ukraine to figure out a way to best help them during this time.

Many of you have been sending messages in the last 48 hours in hopes of helping in some way, and we have been overwhelmed by the heartfelt response of the Lexington community. We've gathered a couple of organizations you can financially support if you choose to do so. These are non profit organizations that we know personally, who are on the grounds now, and are assisting those who are displaced, orphaned, and have lost their livelihood. They are working to find shelter, food, clothing and any other items that are needed to help the refugees coming from the areas that have been attacked.

While we understand that finances are not the solution to an ongoing war - especially when the shelves in grocery stores are empty & basic necessities are a scarcity, we feel this is the least that we can do at this moment.

If you feel in your heart to give, these are the links for the organizations involved. If you are unable, please do not feel obligated to. Having spoken with friends from Ukraine this morning, they simply ask for our support in prayer - for God's protection and that the bloodshed of innocent civilians would come to an end.

✨We have also already sent resources to our contacts in Poland who are taking in women & children who were fortunate enough to cross the borders. They are providing housing & basic necessities as most of them came with nothing on hand.

Beverly Johnson, a professor at Asbury Seminary, has organized a public prayer gathering for the situation in Ukraine to publicly show our support to the Ukrainians in our midst.

The gathering will take place this Friday, Feb., 25, 5:00 pm at the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church. We will meet in the parking lot, encircle the church, and uphold the Ukrainian church, local and abroad, and the Ukrainian people and country in prayer.
