We Are A Whosever Will Church:
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

From our official beginning in 1810, Cumberland

Presbyterians have been know as a " Whosoever Will" church claiming that God's alter is long enough and wide enough to allow anyone a seat that desires a relationship with Him. A Whosoever Will Church doesn't condemn those with questionable pasts, for we all have a history to question. A Whosoever Will Church doesn't care how much wealth you have, what family you came from, or what color you are. A Whosoever Church realizes how empty one's life is without a full-fledged relationship with the Lord! We vision a church where people look at each other not as who we are, but as what we can become...
*The Cumberland Presbyterian Church is part of the Reformed Tradition. The word "Cumberland" refers to the geographic area of the beginnings of our denomination, and the word, "Presbyterian", identifies our form of church government (by elders) and our beliefs.
*We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God and is the most reliable guide to God and to living that will ever be found.
*We believe that God is present and active in this world and in the lives of Christians by His Holy Spirit.
*We celebrate the Lord's Supper, which is open to all believers (1Cor 10:17), on the first Sunday of every month.
*We practice water baptism, by any mode, as a sign of our life in Christ. We accept the baptism of other Christian groups as valid, and we do not require rebaptism for transfer of membership. Baptism, no matter the mode, is not in itself a condition of salvation, but an outward sign to and inward response (Romans 10:9)
*We are Christians, not because of our goodness, but because we identify with Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus Christ made known to us the truth about God and the truth about humanity. We worship the God who is revealed by Christ. We understand humanity to be created by God to be fully human, like Jesus, who, begotten of the Father, was fully divine. We believe humanity has "fallen short" or sinned, and that we are separated from God and are "spiritually dead". We believe that the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ made possible new life with God and a new humanity. We confess our condition, believe and trust Christ and commit our lives to Him.
