Peace be upon you.

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Sunday, April 19th, 2026, will be the first day of Dhu al-Qidah, 1447 A.H., for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were no verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Friday, April 17th, 2026, in any of the regions of North America. Therefore, Saturday, April 18th, 2026, will be the last day of Shawwal, 1447 A.H.

We ask God, the Most High, to bless you and your families, accept your deeds, and hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (p).

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Friday, March 20th, 2026, will be the first day of the month of Shawwal, 1447 A.H. for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, in many locations.

Eid Mubarak! We ask God, the Most High, to accept your fasting, grant success in performing good deeds, and to hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (p).

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Alsalamu Alykum.

Our yearly Ramadan program will begin this Sunday, 03/08/2026, in shaa Allah. Our guest scholar this year is Shaykh Ammar Haider from Dallas. Our program will follow the daylight saving schedule, which means that iftar will be around 8:00 PM instead of about 7:00 PM. Accordingly, the program schedule will be as follows:

7:00 PM – Qur’an recitation
7:05 PM – Lecture by Shaykh Ammar
8:00 PM – Maghrib prayer, followed by iftar sponsored by our beloved brothers and sisters

Below is the iftar sponsors list, which still has several open spots for those who wish to sponsor. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever provides food for a fasting person to break their fast will have a reward like theirs, without anything being diminished from the reward of the fasting person.”

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Thursday, February 19th, 2026, will be the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan, 1447 A.H., for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were no verified sightings of the crescent by the naked eye at sunset on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, in any region of North America, due to the impossibility of sighting. Therefore, for areas that started Shaban on Tuesday, January 20th, Wednesday will be the last day of Shaban. And for the areas that started Shaban on Wednesday, January 21st, Wednesday will be the 29th day of Shaban. However, based on the astronomical data, the crescent sighting on Wednesday night is certain; therefore, those areas will also observe February 19th as the first day of Ramadan.

Ramadan Mubarak! We ask God, the Most High, to accept your fasting, grant success in performing good deeds, and to hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (p).

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that the first day of the blessed month of Shaban, 1447 A.H. will be on:

Tuesday, January 20, 2026, for all regions south of the line extending from the city of Philadelphia on the East Coast, passing through Detroit and Chicago, and ending at the cities of Seattle and Vancouver on the West Coast, God willing.

Wednesday, January 21, 2026, for all other regions north of the above-mentioned line; thus, Tuesday will be the last day of the month of Rajab.
