Despite the United Methodist Church having a long-standing history of advocating for justice, we must acknowledge that the sin of racism remains a painful reality. A painful reality that permeates both society at large and, yes, even the church.
One of the first steps to making progress on any issue is to have open, honest conversations. The Conference SBC21 and Religion and Race teams want to help facilitate those conversations.
Please join us on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00am (ET) for the Do You See What I See: A Conversation about Race and the Church webinar.
This webinar will be hosted by Wiley Huff a layperson from the Florida Conference who has hosted a racial relations panel for C-SPAN. Mr. Huff will be joined by a panel that consists of laity and clergy from the Kentucky Conference.
To help meet the educational and awareness goal of the session, questions of interest will also be accepted from those who register for the webinar. To register for the webinar and submit a question for the panel please visit: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Usxs6ptzRtOmTumTTBCqKA
This webinar will also introduce two bible studies around this theme that will be offered to churches. One study will be geared towards children and one will be geared towards adults and teens.
Please share this invitation to all members of your churches and/or teams with which you work, We look forward to seeing you, "virtually" of course, on Saturday, July 25th!
