What I am Reading ~
Kathleen Nowacki-Correia, Director of Religious Education, Formation, & Evangelization

Just in time for the September 24th Beatification of one of my favorite Catholic media evangelists, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, I heartily recommend the unique memoir, My Uncle Fulton Sheen, written by his niece, Joan Sheen Cunningham, with Janel Rodriguez.

Get to know “the Bishop,” as he was most commonly known to all, through the accounts of his niece, brought from Illinois at age 10, through her uncle’s generosity, to attend a private school in New York City.

Through her memories of her weekends spent with him, and his influence on her from an early age through marriage and motherhood, you will come to know Sheen personally as a man of prayer, generosity, and missionary zeal, who took celebrity in stride, and interacted with and inspired countless people – the holy, the not-so-holy, the famous, and the ordinary “man-on-the-street.

Jean’s account of her richly blessed and beloved uncle has captivated Sheen fans, from its publication by Ignatius Press in 2020 through today! I read it then, and I am happily revisiting it now!
