Call to Worship (Responsive)
One: Our gracious God has created us and called us God’s own.
All: Let us worship the triune God.
One: Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has redeemed our lives.
All: Let us worship the triune God.
One: The Holy Spirit sustains and guides us all the days of our lives.
All: In gratitude and joy, let us worship the triune God!
Hymn #24 “God, Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens”
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Loving God, see us as we really are. We are a people who prefer our will to your will. We focus on things of the self and give little thought or care to others. We wander through our days giving little thought to our own discipleship, let alone our call to help others become disciples. Forgive us, God of grace. Forgive us and set us again on the path of your righteousness. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon

Discussion Questions
1. This creation story differs from other ancient Near Eastern creation myths by portraying God creating through speech and order rather than violence. What does this reveal about the character of God, and how might it shape Christian approaches to power and leadership?
2. Genesis 1 follows a rhythmic pattern of evening and morning, work and rest. What spiritual practices or communal rhythms could help cultivate balance, wholeness, and trust in God today?
3. The passage culminates in Sabbath rest. In a culture shaped by productivity, consumerism, and exhaustion, what might Sabbath mean for individuals, congregations, and communities today?

Household Prayer: O blessed Trinity, in whom we know the maker of all things seen and unseen, the Savior of all both near and far: By your Spirit enable us to worship your divine majesty, so that with all the company of heaven we may magnify your glorious name, saying: Holy, holy, holy. Glory to you, O Lord most high. Amen.
