Calvary’s Adult Spiritual Formation Mini Retreat is Saturday, September 19th and all are invited! FREE EVENT with FREE CHILDCARE and BREAKFAST!

Today we’re highlighting one of the workshops being offered, “Telling the Bigger Story” led by Rev. Mary Alice Birdwhistell. In this interactive workshop, Mary Alice will lead participants to explore the stories we carry about ourselves, one another, and God- and practice looking for the bigger story. Rev. Mary Alice Birdwhistell is a pastor, writer, and speaker currently serving as Interim Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown. A Kentucky native, she holds degrees in English from Georgetown College and divinity from Baylor University and writes about faith, hope, and the stories that shape our lives at Tellingthebiggerstory.com. We’ve just recently kicked off a new Sunday School year here at Calvary so we wanted to offer a couple reminders:

📣 Sunday School begins at 9:45AM. Check-in for children opens at 9:30AM on the first floor of EB1.

Calvary’s Adult Spiritual Formation Mini Retreat is Saturday, September 19th and all are invited! FREE EVENT with FREE CHILDCARE and BREAKFAST!

Today we’re highlighting one of the workshops being offered, “This is My Story, This is My Song: How the Hymns We Sing Shape the Faith We Live” taught by Rev. Steve Price. This workshop promises to be a fun and engaging look at how hymns/ music shape our faith story.

Rev. Price is very recently retired as pastor of Grace Baptist Church here in Lexington and is excited about sharing his lifelong love for music and the hymns that have helped form him. Bonus points if you can guess who he is related to at Calvary!

You’re invited to our Spiritual Formation Mini Retreat for Adults on Saturday, September 19th! This year’s event will focus on “The Power of Story: Learning to Listen to and Tell Stories of Faith.” We’ll welcome Dr. John Inscore Essick, pastor and BSK professor, as our plenary speaker as well as a wonderful group of workshop speakers. Registration is open! This event is FREE and open to our community. We provide FREE childcare for children, birth thru 5th grade. Check-in and registration open at 8:30AM.

This year’s Adult Spiritual Formation Mini Retreat invites you to consider how storytelling is essential to faith by preserving tradition, shaping identity, and building community. We will welcome Dr. John Inscore Essick, pastor and BSK professor, as our plenary speaker.
