A few weekends ago, several of our Amachi matches hit the water for our annual canoe trip led by our friends at Canoe KY!

For some, it was their first time canoeing! We watched them face fears, work together, and try new things. This is mentoring: coming alongside a young person and growing in confidence and resilience together.

Our friends at Black Yarn are offering Lexington an important opportunity this Tuesday, June 23, from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Central Library: a free community screening of their documentary, Lexington: Resilience in the Redline.

This film helped our diverse staff reflect more honestly on our shared history and think more deeply about unity in our city and the future we are working to build together through our Kingdom work. ...For those of us who love Lexington and want every child, family, and neighborhood to flourish, this is the kind of local story worth making time for.

In the week of Juneteenth, we are grateful for opportunities to listen, learn, remember truthfully, and imagine a more hopeful future for our city.

The screening is free and open to the community. We hope you’ll consider attending!

This past Sunday, Fatherhood Initiative had an All Pro Dad Day with FCPS at the Lexington Legends game! It was such a great opportunity to bring dads and kids together from multiple schools within the district. The day was filled with giveaways, local resources, a ballpark buffet, and a fun game day experience!

Fatherhood Initiative is proud to partner with FCPS to strengthen their father engagement strategies across the district.

All Pro Dad is a nationally renowned father engagement program that schools, volunteers, and congregations can use to provide monthly activities for dads and their kids at school. We love graduation season!! Last week, we celebrated with many of our elementary, middle, and high school graduates as they completed their school year. It was inspiring to see the mentors, families, and school staff who support our children of promise. The village that invests in each child's potential is so encouraging to us.
