When did teaching God’s Word become a subscription service?

I just had an encounter that reminded me of Jesus confronting the money changers in the temple (Mark 11:15–17).

They had turned a place of worship into a place of personal gain. Jesus called it a “den of robbers.”

And it makes me wonder: Have we turned access to biblical truth into a business?

In a time when false teaching is everywhere, why are some who know the Scriptures putting sound biblical teaching behind a paywall?

I’m not suggesting that ministry shouldn’t be financially supported. Scripture supports that. But there’s a difference between supporting ministry and exploiting God’s people for profit.

God confronted shepherds who fed themselves while neglecting His sheep (Ezekiel 34:1–5). Jesus warned about those who care more about themselves than the flock (John 10).

When feeding the sheep becomes less important than profiting from them, we’ve got a problem.

Just something I’m thinking about tonight.

Go Read It For Yourself: A Servant for Judgement

God is God and He has a right to judge sin. People who have only been taught “God is love” reject this and close their eyes to this confrontational truth about their behavior and choice to reject God.

Consider our current state. Consider how the American church has drifted, false teachers and lying prophets have proliferated, especially on social media, and “church folks” are incorrectly deconstructing the Bible and sharing lies to people happy to listen.

“These people” do not want a Truth that confronts their sin/rebellion against God…. So they find/follow/ subscribe to false teachers who tell them what they want to hear (1 Timothy 4:1-2). “These people” have made themselves their own gods

Jesus said He is the way, THE TRUTH, and the life — NO man comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

The more you are confronted with THE TRUTH (about salvation and THE WAY to GOD and you reject it— because you have freewill— you can choose to close your eyes and harden your heart— over time that choice gets “baked in” and you cannot see truth anymore but it was YOUR choice to close your eyes. And choices have consequences. (See notes in picture.)
