Come and enjoy some fellowship before Worship service. The children will be a part of the Worship service so don't miss what they have been working on for Advent.

Our special speaker on Sunday, October 2, was Logan Wooten who filled in for Pastor Eddie who was out of town. Logan spoke at Union several times and is quite a dynamic young man who knows his Bible. Logan's message was on Faith and he used Genesis 22: 1-18, for his message.

The story of Isaac is both a picture of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his only son and a foreshadowing of God’s willingness to sacrifice His only Son for us. Abraham says, “God will provide the sacrifice.” Not only did God provide a ram as a sacrifice for Abraham, but He provided a lasting sacrifice through His Son — for Abraham, and for all of us. How strong is your faith?

On Thursday, Sept. 15, Union hosted a hotdog supper with all the fixins', including baked beans and banana pudding. After the meal, the Tarheel Travelers Bluegrass Band provided music. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a big success!

Edwin Garber Needham obituary

Edwin Garber Needham, was born August 22, 1933, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte to the Reverend Eugene Warren and Antoinette Hauser Needham, during his father’s appointment to Weddington Methodist Church. Attended by his wife, caring neighbors and friends, Edwin died at his family home in the Vienna community on Wednesday, June 29, 2022
Edwin was a graduate of Cliffside High School, High Point College and Duke Divinity School. Reverend Needham actively served under appointment at United Methodist churches for forty years, and continued serving the church subsequent to his retirement in 1998. Edwin was appointed to Union United Methodist Church in Lewisville for twenty-two years.
On August 22, 1963, Edwin married Wanda Kate Carnes at The Memorial Chapel located on the Lake Junaluska United Methodist Assembly Grounds.

The Funeral Service will be held at Brookstown United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 3, at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Brookstown cemetery. Visitation, beginning at 2:15 p.m. will precede the funeral service, and continue with a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the burial.

The July 4th celebration at UUMC on Sunday July 3rd has been canceled due to the death of Rev.Edwin Needham

Join us for our annual 4th of July celebration on Sunday, July 3rd at 12:00. There will be hot dogs with all the trimmings, pimento cheese sandwiches, potato chips, banana pudding, canned drinks and water. Entertainment will be provided by the Tarheel Travelers Bluegrass Band. Also there will be a bouncy house for the kids to enjoy, so pass on the word that Union United Methodist Church is the place to be on Sunday July 3rd. Remember to bring your yard chairs. Worship service starts at 9:30 and the festivities begin at 12:00.

Work Detail

We had a good group to show up to clean and move things out of the basement in preparation to paint. Thanks to Colin Burton for bringing a couple friends and his kids - everyone pitched in and we were done in no time!

Fireman's Appreciation Sunday was observed on May 1. It was a special time to honor the firemen, and we had 6 firemen who work in local stations and 4 who are retired who were present. Each fireman was presented with a copy of the Firefighter's Bible. After Worship service, everyone enjoyed a delicious brunch in the fellowship hall. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a very special event!
