Week 185
Day 5
Joh 11:45-57 Therefore many of the Jews, who came to Mary and saw what Jesus did, believed in him.
(46) But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done.
Day 1 What was the reaction of those who witnessed the miracle?
(47) The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What are we doing? For this man does many signs. (48) If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
Day 2 What spiritual truth are you ignoring because you are worried about you position, job, reputation, etc. ?
(49) But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, (50) nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”
Day 3 What was the prophesy that the high priest spoke?
(51) Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, (52) and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
Day 4 What was Jesus mission on earth and how did it align with this prophesy?
(53) So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death. (54) Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples.
Day 5 Jesus was not avoiding his death, he was waiting for the correct time. As a Christian do you fear your death or are you prepared for the right time?
(55) Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand. Many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves. (56) Then they sought for Jesus and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, “What do you think—that he isn’t coming to the feast at all?” (57) Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had commanded that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it, that they might seize him.
How to study the Bible?
Each time we study, we will answer the following questions:
1. What is the truth about God that we learn?
2. What is the truth about us that we learn?
3. How does my life line up with the truth I have learned?
4. Why does my life not line up with this truth?
We will consider all these elements of faith through
1. Prayerful meditation- asking for the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit
2. Daily review of the truths
In many people, who claim to be Christians, there is a huge disconnect between what the Scriptures plainly teach and what they claim to believe and how they live their lives. As we progress through our weekly studies, we will explore our personal beliefs and actions against God’s Word the Bible
Each week a passage or a section of the Bible will be posted with daily meditations.
The idea is that we will take small tidbits to meditate on and then combine into a foundation for belief and practice. Do not try to rush the process let yourself experience the truth of God.
1. Pray and invite the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you.
2. Keep two notebooks with you as you meditate on Scripture.
a. The one is for any truth you feel is being revealed to you
b. The other is for what I call distractions – the things of life that pop into your head as to what you need to do today. Write them down to deal with later and return to your meditation
3. Meditate daily on the scripture passage – read it at least three times, reflex on it
4. Meditate on the daily focus
5. Thank God for his Word even if you do not feel you are getting anything out of it today.
1 Philippians 2: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [12] Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
