Trinity Church, Lewiston

Trinity Church, Lewiston Trinity is a progressive, 21st century center of urban ministries and inclusive worship. We also offer our space for community concerts and a drum circle.

We are a caring, creative faith community that welcomes personal spiritual exploration and encourages members to live the questions and serve our neighbors. Rooted in the Episcopal Church, we worship in a vibrant, inclusive liturgical style with music from many traditions. We helped start and partner with three community projects: Tree Street Youth (a nearby youth program), The Jubilee Center (a s

oup kitchen and social service agency in our building), and The Center for Wisdom's Women (a nearby drop-in center for women). Our bereavement ministry provides a memorial service and burial of ashes in our memorial garden, for anyone in the area who does not have a church home. A scrappy group, we welcome seekers, sinners and saints into a ministry of grateful service and empowerment. With Jesus as our model, we try to practice what we preach and live God's love in Lewiston. We are a church that works!

The Oasis of Music will feature American sitarist David Pontbriand, who will perform at Trinity Commons, 247 Bates Street in Lewiston, Wednesday April 15, beginning at 12:30 .

American sitarist David Pontbriand began his journey with the sitar in 1973. His story is an exception to the rule, in that he is entirely self-taught. Pontbriand's Music of Sitar is driven by an intuitive and emotive approach that is deeply personal, and yet displays elements of classical Indian forms and style.

His original and primarily spontaneous compositions for sitar are freely interpretive, while rooted in the classical ragas of north India. Pontbriand explains "While I have great respect for the Indian classical traditions, I do not necessarily adhere to any of them. I allow free reign to my own musical invention."
