R.I.P. Coach Lou Holtz (1937-2026); he was born and raised across the Ohio River from Steubenville in Follansbee (WV), he went on to be a College Football Hall of Fame coach.

Two previously unknown sermons by St. Augustine have been authenticated after scholars discovered them in a 12th-century manuscript, revealing ideas never before seen in the influential theologian's surviving works.

The discovery was made by University of Würzburg professor Christian Tornau, who spent nearly two years authenticating the texts after being asked to decipher the medieval manuscript. The sermons are now being prepared for publication for the first time, nearly 1,600 years after they were originally preached.

Today we honor St. Charbel Makhlouf, a humble Maronite monk and priest from Lebanon. Born Youssef Antoun Makhlouf in 1828, he entered the monastery at a young age and took religious vows in 1853. Seeking complete union with God, he lived as a hermit in Annaya for twenty three years, spending his days in silent prayer, fasting, and Eucharistic adoration. After his death in 1898, miraculous healings were attributed to his intercession, drawing millions of faithful pilgrims. Pope Paul VI canonized him in 1977 as a saint of miraculous peace. His feast day is celebrated on July 24.
