Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah! InshaAllah this monthly newsletter finds you in the best of health and imaan. The following newsletter will explain and highlight the various programs and services that will be provided by the Polaris Masjid.
Weekly Halaqahs:
Youth/Family Halaqahs- Fridays 8:30-9 PM: InshaAllah, starting on Friday, September 4th, Imam Talha will be conducting a general youth halaqah over Zoom, every Friday, geared towards teenagers 13 and above. InshaAllah, Imam Talha will discuss relatable and beneficial topics for the youth of our community.
The first, second, and (if applicable) fifth, Friday will be a general Halaqah, where Imam Talha will cover different aspects of the religion that the youth can relate to.
The third Friday of every month, the general youth Halaqah will be split into a girls-only session and a boys-only session for ages 13 and over. This will give the speakers and listeners a chance to engage in specific and gender-related discussions. The boy's halaqah will be lead by Imam Talha, and the girl's halaqah will be lead by Sister Sana Ahmed, Imam Talha's wife. The youth of the community can also request a certain topic that wants to be addressed in these sessions by contacting Imam Talha at [email protected], or Sister Sana at [email protected].
Family Halaqahs- Fridays 8:30-9 PM: On the fourth Friday of every month, the general youth Halaqah will be replaced by a family Halaqah in which Imam Talha will be discussing family topics for all ages.
Tafsir Halaqahs- Tuesdays 8:30-9 PM: InshaAllah on Tuesdays, starting September 1st, Imam Talha will provide a basic tafseer (explanation) of the Qur'an. He will be starting from the last Surah of the Qur'an, Surah An-Naas, and will go in descending order from there covering approximately a Surah a week. Other aspects of Qur'an and tafseer will also be discussed.
Fiqh Halaqahs- Wednesdays 8:30-9 PM: InshaAllah, on Wednesdays, starting from September 9th, Imam Talha will cover the essentials of Fiqh, (Islamic Law). Topics will include:
A brief history of Fiqh,
The importance of Fiqh,
A history of the 4 Madhahib, or schools of thought in Islamic Law,
The importance of adhering to a madhab.
Taharah (Purity)
Salaah (Aspects of Prayer)
Zakah (Obligatory Charity)
Sawm (Fasting)
Hajj (The Pilgrimage)
And other topics
Weekday Qur’an Classes: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 4:30-6:30PM:
InshaAllah, starting from Tuesday, September 15th, Qur'an lessons will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of every week, for those children, ages 5 and above, who wish to further their Qur'anic recitation and memorization studies outside of the Sunday School Qur'anic Studies Program Each student will come in for 45 minutes, on the three days and will improve their Qur’anic reading, pronunciation, and surah memorization. The cost will be $75 a month for 3 days a week, $50 a month for 2 days a week, and $25 a month for 1 day. If interested in enrolling, please contact Imam Talha with your questions by Tuesday September 7th, via email, to set up a Qur'an Placement time.
There will also be a male adult Qur’an class that Imam Talha will be teaching for those male adults that would like to learn or improve their recitation of the Quran. They will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 6:00 PM-6:30 PM. The cost will be $60 a month for 3 days a week, $40 a month for 2 days a week, and $20 a month for 1 day.
Polaris Masjid Sunday School:
InshaAllah, Sunday September 20th, will be the first day of Sunday School. As of now, there will be one session from 9:45 AM-12:15 PM, for ages 5 and above.
Each session will have an Islamic Studies class and a Qur'anic Studies class.
The Islamic Studies class will include Fiqh, Aqidah, History, Seerah, and Personal Development.
The Qur'anic Studies class will include the Complete Qaidah, Rules of Tajwid, Surah Memorization, and Reading Fluency.
Please Register at this link: https://forms.gle/LfQ9YhYTY4xVNeANA prior to coming to the Masjid for the Qur’anic Level Placement test on Saturday, September 5th. You will need to fill a separate form for each child. The Qur'anic Level Placement test will take place at the masjid on Saturday in person from at 10 AM. We ask that everyone who is interested make an effort to come in person for the Registration, Quran Placement, and fees. Please bring your child/children along with the $50 registration fee (check or cash) at 10 AM.
The fees will be $75 a month per child. For every additional child, the cost will be $70 a month, each child. There will also be a one-time $50 registration fee per child. Fees for the students’ books will also be determined. The fees are reflected on our commitment to achieve personalized learning for the students, by keeping the student-teacher ratio smaller. Open House will take place on Sunday, September 13th from 10-12pm, in person, to meet the teachers and pay for the first month and collect the text books.
Office Hours:
InshaAllah Imam Talha will be available for walk-ins or by appointments after the Maghrib prayer, until the Isha prayer on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Please note that if a woman is to come in person for the office hours, they must be accompanied by a companion who is 18 years or older. JazakAllah Khairan for reading!
