Art as Spiritual Practice

May 24, 2026 at 10:30 am

The UU commitment to the development of moral imagination means that art holds a special place in our movement not just as a past time or an aesthetic, but as a means of making meaning. Today we celebrate the creative spirit as central to the human act of becoming. Also, this Sunday, a children’s art show!

On the Importance of Being Earnest

May 17, 2026 at 10:30 am

In an age that often rewards irony and distance, many are rediscovering the quiet courage of being earnest. This Sunday we explore the spiritual power of sincerity, the liberation of embracing “cringe,” and the deep human longing to care openly in a world that needs our whole hearts.

Everyone has a journey that led them to where they are now. Today Commissioned Lay Minister Teri Cornell speaks about our 3rd principal, “acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations”. And shares her spiritual journey story from Catholicisim, Presbyterianism, Unitarianism Universalism and now an interest in Kitchen Witchery. And how the welcoming table of our UU tradition makes this place a safe place to explore many paths.

Jesus and Socrates Walk into a Bar

May 3, 2026 at 10:30 am

For generations, Unitarians have set Jesus and Socrates side‑by‑side as moral teachers. This Sunday we imagine them in conversation, exploring how their shared courage, compassion, and questions can guide our own lives. A playful title opens a deeper exploration of what Jesus and Socrates share: courage, compassion, and the art of asking better questions. What might their imagined conversation teach us about living wisely and kindly today?

The Sacred Art of Skepticism
April 12, 2026 at 10:30 am
Skepticism isn’t just doubt—it’s a spiritual practice of asking deeper questions and resisting easy answers. This Sunday Rev. Susan explores how healthy skepticism can resist fanaticism but also open us to and compassion.

Easter: So Many New Lives
April 5, 2026 at 10:30 am
Join us for an Easter celebration of new life, in its variety, diversity, and joy, a service which seeks to answer the question: what does it mean to practice resurrection? Part of our service will include a flower celebration, where flowers are gathered together in communal vases and blessed by the minister. At the end of the service, each person takes home a different flower than the one they brought, symbolizing the shared beauty and diversity of the community. Please bring cut flowers representing the members of your party to the worship if you are able.

All young people are welcome to join our Easter Egg hunt immediately after worship! There are no religious education classes this Sunday–children will remain in the sanctuary for service.
