Preparing for a Play You’ll Never See

September 6, 2026 at 10:30 am

What does stewardship mean? What is legacy in the context of individual spiritual growth? And why, oh why, can’t society seem to plan for days they may not live to see? These questions about days far away can feel daunting, even overwhelming. Please come join us as we ponder these questions and find insight on ways to make sense of the future in the now. Commissioned Lay Minister Candidate John Daquila preaches today.

Blessing of the Animals

August 30, 2026 at 10:30 am

Bring your beloved creatures (or a photo or other token of them) to church this Sunday for a blessing and for a brief worship (geared to animal attention spans) on the theme of how animals reflect the holy. We’ll be welcoming the beasts inside unless you are bringing a really, really big animal….which in case let us know….

Talking about…Unitarian Universalsim

August 23, 2026 at 10:30 am

Unitarian Universalism feel hard to describe—yet it’s also wonderfully simple. This Sunday we’ll explore both sides of that truth. Many of us hesitate when someone asks, “So… what is your church about?” but this Sunday Rev. Susan will explore how to speak about our faith with confidence, warmth, and clarity.

Immediately after our slightly abbreviated worship, we will have a brief congregational meeting for the purpose of approving the budget for Fiscal Year 2027.

How to Do Absolutely Nothing at All

August 9, 2026 at 10:30 am

In a world that constantly urges us to hurry, improve, and produce, what happens when we simply stop? In this service Rev. Susan explores how we might recapture the spiritual practices of resting without guilt and being present without agenda.

Scarcity Is Cap: A Story of Shared Abundance

August 2, 2026 at 10:30 am

Drawing on the ancient story of a crowd gathered on a hillside—ordinary Palestinians, hungry and uncertain—we remember the moment when a teacher invited them into courage and mutual care. The “miracle” was not food appearing out of thin air, but fear loosening its grip. People who had tucked away their small portions began to share, and what looked like scarcity became abundance. This is a story about how Paisha Thomas M.Div., is an artist, activist, and educator based in Central Ohio.

Paisha Thomas is today’s guest preacher. She is the founder of Land of the Freed, a non-profit dedicated to Black land back, reparative justice, and Black liberation. Combining an undergraduate background in Human Resources Management with an M.Div., Paisha specializes in learning, development and public speaking. Guided by liberation theology and decolonization, she utilizes creativity, design thinking, and strategic alignment to build educational paths toward freedom from oppression. communities transform when we trust one another enough to offer what we have.

Touchstones & Other Remedies

July 19, 2026 at 10:30 am

Across time, people have reached for small things—stones, charms, whispered words—to ease pain or invite protection. Today Rev. Susan reflect on the deep human impulse to seek healing, and how our own rituals, objects, and stories can become sources of courage and comfort.

Talking about the Revolution

July 5, 2026 at 10:30 am

Talking About the Revolution From naked Quakers and singing pirates to the Wendat statesman Kandiaronk, Elizabeth Freeman, and the “cowshed Christians,” Rev. Susan shares some of her favorite revolutionary stories—tales of ordinary people you likely haven’t heard of—but which offer inspiring glimpses of revolutionary visions not yet fully realized, but which yet still live among us as promises, portents, and guides.

Dissatisfied Foragers: Wisdom from the Bee Yard

June 28, 2026 at 10:30 am

NUUC member and Beyond Words Covenant Group leader Pam Spence presents today. When childhood dreams of exploring distant galaxies – or even that slightly more realistic goal of becoming a foreign correspondent did not materialize, Pam found a fascinating culture to observe, in her own backyard, right underneath her nose, in the beehive. In the process, she discovered a particular group of bees that she immediately embraced as her “spirit animal” i.e. the “dissatisfied foragers.”
