Give honor to whom honor is due. Perhaps we should say, overdue. The debt we owe to those who willingly gave their lives to obtain and maintain the tremendous freedoms we share is a debt of such degree that even our deepest gratitude falls woefully short. On this solemn day we humbly bow our heads in prayer and give thanks for those who made the ultimate sacrifice, who stood on the front lines of battle, who charged across bullet-ridden beaches, who crawled through jungles, who crossed oceans and seas, who defended the homeland, and to all those who took the battle to our enemies. Our words of thanks come from deeply humbled and broken hearts filled with praise and gratitude for the acts of service and bravery that make the United States of America the land of the free and the home of the brave. May God abundantly bless America and raise up a generation of men and women that will honor those who have gone before us with equal or greater love for God and country.
