What kind of pastor does God want for His church?

This is an important question for us to consider. In seasons of change, uncertainty, and even sorrow, it is especially important that we turn to God’s Word for wisdom and direction.

This Sunday, we will be in 1 Peter 5:1–4, where God gives us a clear picture of the kind of shepherd who should lead His people—and the kind of church that should recognize, support, and value faithful shepherding.

I believe this passage is especially timely for us as a church family. ❤️

Join us this Sunday as we open God’s Word together and consider:

Happy 250th Anniversary, USA!

Dear Church Family,

Just a reminder that there will be no Bible Study, Children or Teen ministry tonight, July 1, 2026.

As we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday, we encourage you to spend some extra time with your family, enjoy the holiday, and remember to pray for our country. Ask God to grant wisdom to our leaders, protection for those who serve, and spiritual awakening across our nation. As Scripture reminds us, we are to pray "for kings and all who are in high positions" (1 Timothy 2:1–2).

Since you have a free evening, I also encourage you to reflect on two wonderful passages of Scripture from yesterday and today’s Bible reading

· Romans 6 – Rejoice that, through Christ, we have been set free from the power of sin and are now called to walk in newness of life.

· Ephesians 3 – Marvel at the immeasurable love of Christ, the riches of His grace, and God's power at work within every believer—able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think.

May this be a week of gratitude—for the freedoms God has graciously given us as Americans, and even more, for the eternal freedom we have in Jesus Christ.

Today, the OVC family rejoices as a father publicly declared his faith in Christ through baptism.

As a husband, father, and follower of Jesus, he has chosen to take this important step of obedience, setting an example of faith for his family and those around him. There is no greater legacy a father can leave than a life devoted to Christ.

We celebrate with heaven and with our church family as he begins this new chapter of his faith journey.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." — Acts 16:31
