GRANDMA’S CHOCOLATE CAKE
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
½ c cocoa
1 t. baking powder
2/3 c. shortening
¼ t. salt
3 c. flour
2 t. baking soda
2 c. hot water
Cream sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternatively with hot water. Beat smooth. Pour batter into 2 round cakes pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
