Hello friends!

Cristina here. In light of recent events, I have decided to use our time of worship this coming Sunday morning to center music that is created or primarily performed by black artists. And I think you all will be glad to know, that this did not even involve picking songs that are not already in our repertoire! I work hard to bring diversity into our music and worship, because we are ALL a part of God’s creation, and we serve a God that exists and is praised in ALL kinds of communities regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, or any “type” of person. And It’s beautiful to praise Him in a way that reflects that.

What we WILL be doing that is new to the Leonardtown Campus, is singing in different languages too! It’s so fun to experience the way that different cultures write about and worship God. I wanted to share some recordings of the songs we will be singing for communion and an extra closing song, just in case you want to get a head start on listening and learning!

8/26/2026- Very recently one of our Little Seedlings Preschool and Kindergarten teachers made a blatantly racist comment on a public page which was quickly shared and spread by members of our community. Since then, First Saints Community Church and our Little Seedlings program have come under intense scrutiny, and understandably so. Effective immediately, this teacher has tendered and we have accepted her resignation.

First Saints Community Church strives to be a Christ-centered, safe, fully inclusive community of God’s people. We are a multiracial and multigenerational congregation. We hold our leaders and staff to a high standard of excellence as disciples of Jesus Christ who do no harm and who protect the sacred worth of all of our neighbors. Furthermore, we deem racism and all forms of othering to be sinfully abhorrent. That is why we welcomed this teacher’s resignation while also committing ourselves to loving her as our sister in Christ towards healing and wholeness. In the meantime, I am deeply proud of First Saints Community Church and our Little Seedlings Preschool and Kindergarten whose standards of excellence and care for children of all kinds has been and will continue to be a blessing to our community.

An employee from our Little Seedlings Preschool recently made a blatantly racist comment on social media. As a result, this employee and our church have come under intense scrutiny, and understandably so. Let me be very clear: First Saints Community Church is committed to being a Christ-centered, safe, fully inclusive community. We teach and practice that, albeit imperfectly. Nevertheless, racism, sexism, or any kind of othering is something we do not excuse or tolerate. It is sin that wields significant harm, and for that reason, I am personally, deeply upset by this incident. Therefore I can assure you that we are not ignoring this offense, and we are actively engaging it. In the days to come, we will have more to say. In the meantime, Little Seedlings is an amazing pre-school and kindergarten. In my 7 years with First Saints, I am very proud of the high quality program we offer. It’s been a ministry of our church for a long time now and will continue to be for years to come.

ALERT 🚨: First Saints Worship night is approaching!

Have you ever wanted to sing a lot of hymns and then eat a lot of ice cream with your friends? (Fellow musicians will understand the order of those is important) Join us at our Leonardtown campus for a night of joyful noise followed by joy in a cup 🍦

Little Seedlings Christian Preschool and Kindergarten is accepting applications for a Kindergarten Teacher. This is a part-time position, working 4.5 hours in the classroom Mondays—Fridays from 8:30am—1pm. Prior experience teaching in an Early Childhood Education setting is required. Applicants must be warm, creative, enthusiastic, patient, and dedicated to providing a quality Christian education. A passion for children and their education is a must. Here’s the latest update on the water damage repairs in Brubacher Hall: the wood ceiling is being taken down so that the sprinkler system can be accessed. In the process, significant mold has been found in the insulation and woodwork, something we weren’t aware of until now. But the good news is, the work is progressing, especially led by Paul Ragard, our Maintenance Team lead, and our Leadership Board. Thank you for your prayers and gifts, and as an extra reminder, please do not enter this cordoned off area. Our goal, with God’s help, is to have an even better Brubacher Hall and adjoining rooms to carry on God’s work through First Saints of meeting people where they are, and leading them to where Christ wants them to be!
