Ehud: A Man God Could Use | Judges 3:15

When you picture someone God can use, do you always picture somebody else?

In this message from our *Raising Deliverers* series, we meet Ehud, an unexpected deliverer whose difference became an advantage in God’s plan. Through his story, Pastor Matt challenges us to put our abilities to work, take responsibility for our preparation, and lead through an example others can follow.

Wanting God to use us should move us toward obedience. The dagger still had to be made, the king confronted, and the people led.

What step of obedience are you postponing while you wait to feel ready?

Judges 3:10 — “And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him…”

One of the most dangerous moments in the Christian life is not always when we feel weak.

Sometimes it is when we feel strong.

Othniel was already a proven warrior. He had fought battles, won victories, and knew what he was doing.

Yet when God raised him up to deliver Israel, Scripture says, “the Spirit of the LORD came upon him.”

His experience wasn’t enough.

His strength wasn’t enough.

He still needed God.

Weakness makes us depend on God. Strength can tempt us to depend on ourselves.

Yesterday’s victories don’t remove today’s need for Him.

No matter how strong we become, we still need God.

NEW EPISODE IS LIVE 🎙️

OTHNIEL — “I STILL NEED HIM”

One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is not always weakness.
Sometimes it is getting so experienced, so comfortable, and so familiar with serving God that we begin to function without truly depending on Him.

Othniel had experience. He had heritage. He had already seen victory.
But Judges 3:10 still says, “The Spirit of the LORD came upon him…”
Here is the question this message forced me to ask: Have we become so familiar with serving God that we no longer feel our need for God?

Yesterday’s victory does not remove today’s need for Him.
We can obey, but we cannot control the outcome.
We can witness, but we cannot make someone believe.
We can serve, but we cannot manufacture spiritual fruit.
We still need Him.

Have you listened to the podcast?

Yesterday, New Hope Baptist Church celebrated 87 years of God’s faithfulness.

For 87 years, God has used this church to preach the Gospel, reach people, serve families, and point generations to Jesus. We are grateful for what God has done, but we also believe this with everything in us:
We’re not finished yet.

In yesterday’s Homecoming message from Judges 1, we were reminded that past victories do not remove our present responsibility. There are still people to reach, children to teach, families to strengthen, and a generation that needs to see faithful men and women follow God.

The assignment is still in front of us. The church still has a mission. The job is not finished.

This week’s episode of New Hope for Today is now available.
Take time to listen, share it with someone, and ask God what He has placed in your hands for this next chapter.

We’re Not Finished Yet.
