This morning at Bethel Colony of Mercy, Pastor Pruitt brought a powerful message titled, “Then How Should We Live?”
On this Memorial Day weekend, we reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women who gave their lives for our country. Places like Arlington National Cemetery stand as a reminder that freedom came at a cost. Every tombstone represents someone who laid down their life so others could live free. The question becomes: how should we live in honor of that sacrifice?
Today also being Pentecost Sunday, we were reminded of an even greater sacrifice and an even greater power. Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross so we could be free from the bo***ge of sin and addiction, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are given strength to live transformed lives that honor Him.
Pentecost marks the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the believers in Acts 2 — the power that still changes lives today. Because of the cross, the resurrection, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are not called to simply remember sacrifice, but to live differently because of it.
Today’s message challenged us all to examine our walk, our choices, and our hearts. Are we truly living in a way that honors those who sacrificed for us? More importantly, are we living in a way that honors the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ?
“No man hath greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” — John 15:13 (KJV)
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost…” — Acts 2:4 (KJV)
We are thankful today for freedom, for the power of the Holy Spirit, and for the saving grace of Jesus Christ that continues to transform lives here at Bethel Colony of Mercy.
