As we celebrate Labor Day, we are reminded that work isn’t a four-letter word! God created us to work with purpose, diligence, integrity, and generosity.

In Ephesians, Paul challenges believers to put off dishonesty, anger, stealing, and harmful speech. Instead, choose truth, reconciliation, honest work, encouragement, kindness, and generosity.

Our jobs are more than a paycheck. They can be opportunities to serve God, bless others, meet needs, and glorify Christ. Whether our work feels exciting or ordinary, we can approach it with the right heart: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord.” Colossians 3:23

The 23rd annual Hamburger Festival is this Saturday! Be sure to look for the award winning Heavenly Hog Burger in the same spot across from the 3rd Street Cafe. We make our own patties and top it with thinly sliced Italian sausage, provolone cheese, fresh homemade fuji apple slaw, drizzled with citrus chipotle sauce, and serve on a delicious brioche bun. You know the drill - IT'S A BLESSING FOR YOUR MOUTH!

40 restaurants, caterers, and community groups will be offering up their burgers.

This Sunday, we were reminded that the gospel has the power to transform any life. Levi was a tax collector who left everything to follow Jesus. Saul was a fierce persecutor of Christians who encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus and became Paul, a great messenger of the Gospel. Their stories remind us that Jesus meets us where we are, transforms us by His grace, and can use our lives for His purposes.

August has been a busy month here at Salem! Vacation Bible School, Fellowship Breakfast, AHG Campout, Ladies Lunch Bunch, Ladies Fashion Show & Social, Youth Group Mixer & Social, Trail Life Backpacking Trip, Picnic in the Park, Ladies Tea, and Senior Game Day...and the month's not even over yet! We’re praising the Lord for so many opportunities to gather, laugh, encourage one another, and enjoy being together. Thankful for a church family that loves Jesus, loves each other, and apparently loves to fellowship with food! ;)

In Acts 5, the apostles were arrested, imprisoned, beaten, and warned to stop speaking about Jesus. Yet when God miraculously freed them, they went right back to the temple courts and continued teaching!

Their example challenges us today: Are we willing to go where God sends us, stand firm in our faith, and speak the truth of the Gospel—even when it isn't easy?
