The beautiful truth about our journey home to God is that He never stops watching for our return. Like the father in the story of the prodigal son, God stands ready to run toward us the moment we turn in His direction. No matter how far we've wandered, no matter what we've done, there is a God who always hears when we cry out to Him.
God's love for us isn't based on our performance or our ability to stay close to Him. His love is constant, unchanging, and always available. When we've been living in the muck of this world, feeling ashamed and unworthy, we need to remember that Jesus took our stench upon Himself so that we could know His grace and forgiveness today.
Mercy reminds us that we should have gone to hell, but grace reminds us that we get heaven instead. This isn't because we deserve it, but because of what Christ has done for us. When we come home to God, we don't come to a harsh judge but to a loving Father who is "softly and tenderly" calling us back.
Today can be your day of homecoming. Today can be the day you say, "I'm tired of this world. I want to go home." The window to turn back to Christ isn't open-ended, but today it's wide open for you. Come home; your Father is waiting.
Bible Verse
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? — Psalm 121:1
