Psalm 122 reveals David's heart for worship as he expresses joy at the call to gather in Jerusalem. This psalm teaches us that worship should be a delight, not a duty, as God's people unite despite their differences. David celebrates the divine authority that brings order and justice, while pointing to the peace that comes through sacrificial worship. True prosperity flows from having peace with God first, achieved through faith in Jesus Christ, our ultimate sacrificial Lamb. Our faithfulness today impacts future generations, making it essential that we approach worship with joy and live obediently for the sake of those who come after us.

In a world where everyone seems to have their own version of truth, it's refreshing to know that God provides absolute standards. David celebrated Jerusalem not just as a place of worship, but as the seat of divine authority where God's truth governed the people.

Today, we live in a culture that often says, "What's true for you might not be true for me." This relativistic thinking leaves people adrift, with no solid foundation for making important decisions about right and wrong. But as believers, we have something our world desperately needs: access to God's unchanging truth through His Word.

This isn't about being judgmental or superior to others. It's about having a reliable compass in a confusing world. When we face difficult decisions, moral dilemmas, or life's big questions, we don't have to rely solely on our feelings or popular opinion. We have God's Word as our guide.

Having this divine truth doesn't make life easier, but it does make it clearer. We know there are absolute standards of right and wrong, and we can build our lives on the solid foundation of God's character and commands. This gives us confidence and peace in an uncertain world.

Lord, thank You for Your unchanging truth that guides my life. Help me submit to Your Word even when it challenges my preferences or goes against popular culture.

It's the question Isaac asked on Mount Moriah.
It's the question that echoes throughout the Old Testament.
And it's the question every person must answer.

"Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29)

Have you ever noticed how your heart responds when someone invites you to something you truly love? Maybe it's dinner with close friends or a favorite activity. David captures this same excitement when he writes about going to worship God. His words reveal a heart that genuinely delights in gathering with God's people.

In our culture, Sunday has become just another day for many people. Shopping, sports, and personal agendas often take priority over worship. But David shows us something different - a heart that can't wait to be in God's presence with His people. This isn't about religious duty or checking a box; it's about genuine joy and anticipation.

When we approach worship with this kind of heart, everything changes. We're not dragging ourselves to church out of obligation, but running toward an opportunity to encounter the living God alongside our spiritual family. This joy becomes contagious, affecting not just our own hearts but the hearts of those around us.

The question isn't whether you attend church, but whether your heart leaps at the opportunity to worship. When we rediscover this delight, Sunday becomes less about what we have to do and more about what we get to do.

Prayer
