It's easy to ask, "Who is my neighbor?" But Jesus points us to a deeper reality: we were the ones helpless and broken, in need of rescue. The story of the Good Samaritan ultimately points us to Christ, who saw us in our need and came to save us. His compassion changes us — and compels us to love others. How might God be calling you to show that compassion this week?

Sometimes the questions we ask can keep us from facing the answers we need most.

When confronted with the reality of our sin, it's easy to look for technicalities, exceptions, or ways to shift the conversation. But Jesus doesn't allow us to stay there. Instead, He brings the discussion into the real world—into places of hurt, need, mercy, and even our relationships with those we'd rather avoid.

The question isn't just, "Who is my neighbor?" It's whether we're willing to love the people God places in front of us.

Following Jesus means more than knowing the right answers. It means allowing Him to transform our hearts and the way we see others. Learn more: LenexaBaptist.com/decision

Mission Moment • Compassion Weekend

What if one decision could change generations?

Hear the powerful story of Maureen — a former Compassion child whose life was transformed through the love of Christ and the support of a sponsor. Because of one sponsor's generosity, today, she's helping rescue vulnerable mothers and their children in Kenya and witnessing that same hope change lives every day.

Whether you've already heard her story or are hearing it for the first time, you'll walk away inspired by what God can do through a single act of compassion.

And you may find yourself becoming part of that story too.

Sin takes us further than we intended, keeps us longer than we planned, and costs more than we imagined. That's why God, in His love, calls us to turn from sin and walk in His ways.

The good news? No matter how far you've wandered, God's grace is greater. In Christ, there is forgiveness, restoration, and a better way forward.

Sin will always take you further than you want to, and it will always cost you more than you want to pay. — Pastor Chad McDonald from Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Lenexa Baptist Church.

The beautiful truth about our journey home to God is that He never stops watching for our return. Like the father in the story of the prodigal son, God stands ready to run toward us the moment we turn in His direction. No matter how far we've wandered, no matter what we've done, there is a God who always hears when we cry out to Him.

God's love for us isn't based on our performance or our ability to stay close to Him. His love is constant, unchanging, and always available. When we've been living in the muck of this world, feeling ashamed and unworthy, we need to remember that Jesus took our stench upon Himself so that we could know His grace and forgiveness today.

Mercy reminds us that we should have gone to hell, but grace reminds us that we get heaven instead. This isn't because we deserve it, but because of what Christ has done for us. When we come home to God, we don't come to a harsh judge but to a loving Father who is "softly and tenderly" calling us back.

Today can be your day of homecoming. Today can be the day you say, "I'm tired of this world. I want to go home." The window to turn back to Christ isn't open-ended, but today it's wide open for you. Come home; your Father is waiting.

Bible Verse
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? — Psalm 121:1

Reflection Question
What's keeping you from fully embracing God's grace and coming completely home to Him today?

Prayer
Father, thank You for Your unchanging love and grace. Help me come home completely, leaving behind everything that has kept me from You.

When compromise becomes a pattern, it's time to come home. This powerful message speaks to anyone who's found themselves in a place they never intended to be. Today could be your turning point.

The greatest change you'll ever make isn't changing your habits. It's surrendering your life to Jesus and following Him. No matter how far you've wandered, His grace is greater, and His invitation still stands. Learn more: LenexaBaptist.com/decision
