-Pastor Thompson preached on the subject “A Different Elevation” from 1 Samuel 16:11-13.
Major points included:
*You don’t have to have a crowd around you in order for God to elevate and anoint you!
*Those whom you expect to give you the loudest celebration will sometimes be the ones to give you the coldest silent treatment.
*Having a seat without the spirit will only get you so far. But it’s when you have the spirit along with the seat, that you’ll be able to flourish in your elevation/anointing!

-Our Praise Team blessed us singing “This Is The Day That The Lord Has Made” and “In This Place”.

-In Children’s Church our young people discussed with one another how God helped them through the school year!

-We recognized all of our 2026 graduates for their successful academic accomplishments!

-We’re glad to welcome Kobe, Tiena, and Keion who all made the decision to accept Christ into their lives and become covenant partners/members of our church! We look forward to them being a part of our fellowship and church family! The 3 of them along with 2 others will be baptized next Sunday!

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate a momentous milestone in the life/history of our church last Saturday as we held the Dedication Ceremony/Ribbon Cutting of our Bethel Community Life Center! Special thanks to Pastor Casey Hagle, Superintendent Nathan Fuller, Mayor Derick Silcox, Obbie Fuller, Councilwoman Kaytrina Simmons, Dr. Derrick Burgess, the family of Pastor Emeritus Leo Owens, and Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention President Dr. Melvin Owens who all had a special part in the ceremony. We also give applause and love to the eldest member of our congregation, Mother Naomi Crutch, who led our dedication walk and had the honor of cutting the ribbon! Mother Crutch has spent all 97 years of her life as a member of our church, therefore it was only fitting for her to do the honors of officially welcoming the blessing God has bestowed upon us!

The Bethel Community Life Center is a 2-level/12,000 sq ft established non-profit that will help us extend our ministry resources/capabilities to be better equipped to meet holistic needs of individuals/families around the Shoals area. It will serve as a vehicle of hope, wellness, and transformation through initiatives such as a soup kitchen, summer feeding program, clothing closet, food pantry, mental health therapy, after-school tutoring, basketball gym for youth, event venue space, emergency shelter site, and much more. With God's help and guidance, we desire to do something incredible in the Leighton/Shoals community that will have a lasting positive impact for generations!

The Bethel Community Life Center will host a Juneteenth Soul Brunch on Friday, June 19 from 11AM-1PM. Treat yourself to a delicious Chicken & Waffles brunch while listening/dancing to the soulful saxophone sounds of Tommy “SaxLegend” Friend! What an incredible Sunday as we celebrated our 143rd Church Anniversary with TWO amazing worship experiences! Thank you to Pastor Flip Ingram and Cave Spring Missionary Baptist for being our guests at 9AM, and to Pastor Dion Watkins and the Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church for being our guests at 3PM!

We give God praise for Bro. Douglas Wilhoute who made the decision to be re-baptized and to also become a member/covenant partner of our church! We’re glad to have him a part of our church family!

In this 143rd year, we give God glory for blessing us with our Bethel Community Life Center that we’ve prayed and labored toward for so long. It is indeed a major milestone in the life/history of our church. Both sermons today were fitting. We’ve come too far to turn around, and we will continue to simply watch God work!

Happy 143rd Anniversary BCMBC!!!
