Bell United Methodist Church

Bell United Methodist Church All are welcome! Bell Church was organized in 1866 at the home of William Gillespie on South Turkey Creek immediately after the Civil War. Francis Fanning.

Worship services were held once a month and were led by a Methodist Circuit Rider, Rev. Bell Church held worship services in the Union Church building on Turkey Creek campground from 1872 until some years later when the congregation built a log building. Later a frame building was built from saw milled lumber. That building was located across the road from the present church building. Construction

on the current building began in 1927 and was dedicated in late summer of 1928. An educational building housing Sunday School classes and new restrooms was later added. The church was named “Bell” because it was the first church in the community to have a bell to ring for services. Today, we still proudly ring that bell to summon the beginning of our Sunday worship services! Sunday Morning Worship is at 9AM. We are part of The Leicester Circuit of United Methodist Churches which includes Bell, Big Sandy & Grace United Methodist Church families. We would love to meet you! Come for a visit any Sunday. We also have a Free Food Truck in our parking lot every Wednesday at 5pm. Our partnership with Food Connection makes this possible. Stop by sometime!

Good Morning, Leicester! Thinking about God this morning? Come worship with us - at any of our United Methodist Churches. Bell is at 9AM, Grace worships at 10:15AM and Big Sandy worships at 11:30 AM. Bell (Old Newfound & New Leicester Hwy), Grace (876 Newfound Road) and Big Sandy (In front of the Community Center & Fire Dept.) We would LOVE to worship with you!
