Heartfelt Prayers - True Prayer Warfare
Have you heard expressions like, "my prayers fell flat" or "my prayers could not go beyond the ceiling?" The meaning is that, my prayers were not heard by God or did not reach the throne of God.
Praying calls for faith. One could argue that the fact that one prays means they have faith. However, there is a kind of praying that instantly moves the heart and hand of God. This is the prayer that comes from a deep seated and urgent need. If you have prayed it, you know it.
If something suddenly struck and you were overwhelmed with feelings of powerlessness, knowing there was nothing you could do to help the situation or yourself, if you ever prayed from such circumstances, you know that your prayer was direct hitting, passionate and not sugar coated.
Sometimes we feel like we can talk God into doing something for us. We probably could if we committed to bothering him incessantly. However, the most effective prayers are fervent, pure and to the point.
James 5:16 (KJV)
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
I remember the day I woke up from a vivid dream in which my father was being attacked only to hear my mother rushing him to the bathroom. Something had happened while he slept, he could not breath, he was wheezing so badly, I was certain death was imminent. I believed in the Pentecostal kind of prayers, long, verbose and sometimes loud. This time, the need was so urgent I was not sure what to do, I fell to my knees and from the depth of my heart cried out to the one true eternal God, "God please, heal my dad."
Immediately the wheezing stopped, even if he lost his voice for most part of that day and was particularly weak, the storm passed just that moment.I was only 18 years old then.
Another time, I must have been 38 years old. I had been listening to Christian radio in my car and heard some particularly disturbing News about abortion and the Christians that supported it. The story was so bad that it must have pierced the heart of God...it touched me like no other story had about abortion. When I walked into the prayer room that day for a prayer meeting, my heart was crying out before God in a language very unfamiliar with me. It may have been English, but it was the language of the Spirit, because when I prayed, I prayed for justice, I prayed out of my heart the very pain that God experiences when our sins become so heavy.
The people that joined me for prayer that day must have been astounded by the fervency and passion of those prayers, they were heartfelt, hard hitting and prayed from the belly...When they were over, I felt it was over and that whatever needed to be done, was done. A day or two later, there were headlines in the News regarding that issue with results that were far too shocking for me. Never in my moment of prayer did I think that vengeance could be so quick and the results so tragic. It was sad, it was fearful, but it was done.
How fervent and urgent are your prayers? Do you feel them rumbling from your belly? If you do, God feels them too. May be if you are not so passionate about something, you are not truly ready to pray it because what you are seeking are not answers, just conversations.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much, that is true...it does. If you must pray, feel your prayers, touch the heart of God and stir the enemy's nest, especially during those intercessory kinds of prayer.
