Missionary Spotlights are back!!
Elder Archer Johnson
1. Name of your current companion(s)
I currently have 2 companions, Elder Gutke from Mapleton Utah and Elder Sarmiento from Monterrey Mexico

2. Name of your area/city where you currently live
I am in the State of mexico living in Alamedas and more specifically Lomas Verdes

3. How many companions have you had thus far?
I have had 3 companions in total

4. Names of current friends you are teaching
Araceli and Fernando, Fernando is the son of Araceli and they have a baptismal date! They are going to be baptized this Saturday and I'm super excited!
We're also teaching Kevin and Guadalupe (Lupita) they are younger and have family who are members, but are inactive. They both have a desire to come to church and they love being here, we are going to try and set a baptismal date this saturday!
5. What is the best thing about being a missionary?
The people, I love talking to all of the people here. The life is so much simpler and the members are so strong. I love visiting people and sharing the light of the gospel!
6. What is the hardest thing about being a missionary?
Visits falling through 😞 we have some really good friends in teaching but they get busy and then we can't go to visit them. It makes me sad that people lose interest and don't want to continue getting lessons and learning.
7. What is your favorite scripture or quote from an apostle or church leader?
Mark 10:27 I love this scripture because I know that through God all things are possible. I don't have to worry about any obstacle or trial because I have God to rely on and help me through anything that may come my way!
8. How can the ward help in YOUR missionary efforts?
Share the gospel! I think it might be hard to have some ward members teach the people down here haha, but by sharing the gospel and sharing your testimonies you are helping to hasten the lord's work. Small things like sharing a scripture with a friend or making a social media post. Small things can have a big impact!

This pandemic has really brought to light how vital healthcare workers are to society. They are over worked and under appreciated!

A big shout out to all the healthcare workers in our neighborhood. ❤️

My family’s life has been personally touched by so many for large and small issues. Ryan’s hospital stay as a newly diagnosed diabetic was made bearable and even pleasant because of the amazing nurse that helped him feel at ease! When Ben was in the NICU as a newborn his nurse not only helped him but eased my anxieties!
My sweet daughter Makayla now is a medical assistant in a pediatricians office and is making a difference one patient at a time.

There is not enough thanks in the world for the amazing health care workers in our lives and around the world!

Who is a healthcare worker that has made a difference in your life?

When I was pregnant with my 5th child I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I was very emotional as my mind went to all the things that could go wrong.

I met with a dietitian and learned everything about controlling blood sugar through carb counting. It was all so new and overwhelming. With time I was able to stabilize my blood sugar and deliver a healthy baby boy. I was glad to be done with carb counting!

One year later we were in another dr’s office with my 9 year old son, our oldest. He was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes.

Once again my mind went to all the things that could go wrong and how his life would never be the same. We rushed to Primary Children’s Hospital and spent a few days getting his blood sugar under control.

We learned everything we needed to know to not only keep him alive but to help him thrive. My mind spun as they threw out words like “basal” and “bolus”. I cried as my sweet 9 year old had to learn to get and give himself shots.

The next day a miracle occurred. We met with a dietitian to learn all about carb counting and how vital it was in the control of blood sugar.

My heart kept in gratitude! I knew how to do this part! I had been prepared, not necessarily in a desirable way, but in the way that helped me know first-hand how to handle one of the biggest elements of diabetes.

Almost 11 years later I am still in awe how God prepared me for one trial by giving me another! Gratitude for trials isn’t something that comes naturally but it can come!
