Trinity Lutheran Church "Grace Alone, Faith Alone, and Scripture Alone." Martin Luther The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments.

Trinity Lutheran Church, together with the other congregations of the LCMS, accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone. Grace alone: God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly. Faith alone: By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him

Scripture alone: The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

Isaiah 53:4-5

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.

Linda Estelle Larson Westeen was born October 18, 1940, in Roseau, Minnesota and passed away February 8, 2026, in Leesville, Louisiana at the age of 85. She was one of ten children born to her parents, Oscar Larson and Edith Mattson Larson, and when she was young her family traveled through many states for her father’s employment. After marrying Loyal Odell Westeen, she became a devoted wife and mother who cared for her family as they followed Loyal throughout the south as he oversaw various construction projects. Linda had a strong Lutheran Faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Leesville where she volunteered for many offices. She had a friendly personality and wanted to help people which she did while being a member of the LWML organization at her church and in her everyday life. Being outside in the sunshine working in her yard or watching the birds and squirrels was something she enjoyed. The greatest joy in her life was caring for her family, and they will be blessed by the legacy of love and faith she left for them.

Our Story

Trinity was first established as a preaching-station in Leesville in 1953. It was formed so that members of the Leesville and Fort Polk communities might be able to have the pure, unadulterated Gospel of Jesus proclaimed to them for the forgiveness of their sins. Just a few years later, Trinity became a full-fledged, self-supporting congregation, gathering weekly to hear the Word of God preached and to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This community of faith has continued to gather together around God’s Word and Sacrament each week ever since.

Trinity is a member of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, a confessional fellowship with more than six thousand congregations and over two million members across the United States. The Missouri Synod also shares fellowship with 38 partner church bodies worldwide.

The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

Trinity Lutheran Church, together with the other congregations of the Missouri Synod, believes, teaches, and confesses the Biblical, orthodox teachings of the historic Church as they are confessed in the three ecumenical Creeds (Apostles’, Nicene, Athanasian) and contained in the Book of Concord.
