🎯 READY… AIM… 4-H! 🏹

Vernon Parish 4-H Shooting Sports is kicking off a new year, and we’re ready to get our shooters back on the range!

📍 Leesville City Police Range — behind Froggy Bottom

Our Shooting Sports program offers three disciplines:

🏹 Archery
🎯 Smallbore Rifle (.22 LR)
💥 Shotgun

💲 Cost: $40 per shooter
The fee helps cover range fees, insurance, targets, and other program expenses for the year.

DON’T HAVE EQUIPMENT? THAT’S OKAY!
Shooters are not required to own their own bow, rifle, or shotgun. Vernon Parish 4-H has club equipment available for members to use on site.

⚠️ Ammunition Note: Ammunition for club fi****ms is limited. Shooters using club fi****ms will be asked to purchase/provide their own ammunition as the season progresses. Coaches will provide information on the appropriate ammunition needed.

The kick-off is a great opportunity for new and returning shooters to meet our coaches, learn more about each discipline, go over expectations for the season, and get started!

4-H Shooting Sports is about much more than hitting a target. Through trained coaches and hands-on experiences, youth develop safety, responsibility, discipline, confidence, decision-making, and leadership skills that extend far beyond the range.

🎯 Join the Vernon 4-H Shooting Sports Team!🎯
As we gear up for another exciting Shooting Sports season, we're looking to grow our team of volunteer instructors! If you enjoy working with youth and have an interest or experience in the shooting sports, we'd love to visit with you.
Did you know? Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports is one of the premier programs in the nation, recently bringing home its sixth National Championship! Our success is built on dedicated volunteers who invest their time in teaching youth safe firearm handling, responsibility, sportsmanship, and life skills.

Vernon 4-H currently offers:

💥 Modified Trap Shotgun
🎯 Smallbore Rifle (.22 LR)

No matter your experience level, if you have a passion for mentoring young people, we encourage you to reach out. Training and certification opportunities are available for new instructors.

🏹 ARCHERY WEEKEND – MAY 2 & 3, 2026 🏹
Hosted by Red River Bowmen Archery Club (Shreveport)

Calling all Vernon Parish 4-H archers and families—this is a great opportunity to get on the range and compete!

📍 Saturday, May 2 – LFAA State 900 Championship (Target Round)

This is a target tournament where archers will shoot:
• 30 arrows at 60 yards
• 30 arrows at 50 yards
• 30 arrows at 40 yards

All shots are taken on a 122 cm target face.

➡️ Good news: You do NOT have to be an LFAA member to participate—there will be a Guest Division available!

📍 Sunday, May 3 – Field Shoot (1st Annual Brown Family Invitational)

• 28 targets total
• 4 arrows per target
• 4-H archers are welcome to shoot from youth stakes (max distance 60 yards)

This is a great weekend to build skills, gain competition experience, and represent Vernon Parish 4-H on the range. Whether you’re seasoned or just getting started, there’s something for everyone.

🎯 Legends & Outlaws Trap Shoot at Mayfest! 🎯

Join us for a great time at Mayfest while supporting a great cause! Vernon Parish 4-H Shooting Sports is hosting a Legends & Outlaws Trap Shoot Fundraiser—and we’d love to see you there.

📍 Where: Vernon Parish Fairgrounds
📅 When: Saturday, May 2, 2026
🕛 Shoot Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
🕙 Registration Opens: 10:00 AM

💥 Event Details:
• 5 Station American Trap
• 25 Target Round
• Youth & Adult Divisions
• 1st–3rd Place Trophies Awarded

💲 Cost:
➡️ Shoot is by donation – all proceeds go directly to support Vernon Parish 4-H Shooting Sports

Bring your shotgun and shells and come enjoy some friendly competition while investing in our youth programs. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or just want to come out and support, this is a great opportunity to be part of something meaningful.
