Shared from FCA β a good word for our athletes and coaches this week:
"The one who guards his mouth and tongue keeps himself out of trouble." βProverbs 21:23
Communication is crucial in sports. The way you use your words can be effective or destructive, and what you say and how you say it plays a big role in whether you're competing and living wisely.
One part of speaking wisely is knowing when to hold back, especially when competitive emotions are running high and a careless word could hurt someone.
That discipline grows as we build the habit of thinking before we speak. Wise competitors also listen more than they talk, because listening gives us a clearer sense of what to say and what to leave unsaid.
Look to the Lord for this. Trust Christ's power and grace to help you speak in ways that honor Him in the sphere of influence He has given you.
