Iona Fellowship

Iona Fellowship Our mission is to demonstrate the wisdom of a Christ-centered life. In 563 St. Columba led a small band of exiles to an island off the coast of Scotland.

It is now called Iona. There they established Iona Abbey. This Christian community became a center of learning and hope that led to a transformation of society. The abbey church propogated literacy and the arts during a time when much of Northern Europe had very little of it. Supporting itself through cottage industry and micro-farming, work was a natural expression of spiritual values. Not conten

t to remain cloistered, envoys were equipped and sent out from Iona. These carried the message of Christ in the middle of dark ages. IONA Fellowship is a Christ-centered community that draws inspiration from the abbey church. While we are far from that island, we want to bless our society by learning to follow Christ in the everyday. The Bible teaches that when the righteous thrive, the people rejoice (Pr 29:2). We want to be a community that blesses our society. Following Jesus is not only a Sunday event. It is a way of life. Life is a spiritual activity. Growth is not measured by the number of hours spent in a pew but to the extent we resemble our Savior in the decisions of daily life. While the principles of Christ are not complicated, learning to apply them takes a tremendous amount of dedication, practice and reflection.

I like jumping. The truth is, I never get very high. But like a little kid, I find a lot of joy in the trying. Do you like jumping too? I think flying is baked into our DNA. Deep down we know that we were made for more. And even if we always return to earth, we still try to shake off these mortal bonds, at least for a little while. The Bible tells me that one day I will shake them off. And on that day, I'll say, I’m free, I’m free! Thank God, I'm free at last. Until then, I'll keep on jumping.

“Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:15-17‬ ‭MSG‬‬
