ADORATION URGENT NEEDS (UPDATED)
Dear fellow parishioners: Thank you to those who signed up on the Adoration website since our last appeal a week ago!
Our Eucharistic Adoration ministry is STILL in urgent need of committed adorers for the following days/hours:
* Wednesday 4-5 pm (we STILL DON'T have any committed adorers for this time)
For the following hours we only have one committed adorer
* Tuesday: Noon-1 pm; 4-5 pm
* Wednesday: Midnight-1 am; 1-2 am; 4-5 am; 6-7 am; 8-9 am; 9-10 am; 2-3 pm; 3-4 pm; 4-5 pm; 5-6 pm; 6-7 pm; 11 pm-midnight
* Thursday: 1-2 am; 2-3 am; 4-5 am; 7-8 am; noon-1 pm
* Friday: 1-2 am; 3-4 am
If you are not yet in our Adoration program, please consider signing up at https://stjohnleesburg.weadorehim.com/en/signup. Please note that signing up DOES NOT require a fixed, ongoing commitment. Below are some of the ways you can support this ministry:
1) You can serve as a substitute, and will get notification when other adorers are unable to attend, and you can choose to take their place if able.
2) You can also sign up for a specific date and time in the near future when you are available. This is convenient for parishioners whose work schedule is not predictable.
3) Finally, you can choose to sign up to one or more regular hour slots each week. We encourage everyone to prayerfully consider this option if able.
The Adoration system shows the hours of need. If you are already in the Adoration ministry, please consider switching to one of the hours of need, if there are sufficient other adorers at your time.
God bless you all who come visit our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

On behalf of Bishop Burbidge,
We share with you an alert from the Virginia Catholic Conference asking people to urge governor Youngkin to veto very harmful bills relating to contraceptives, abortion-inducing drugs, and sterilizations that disregard religious liberty. On behalf of Bishop Burbidge, we share with you an alert from the Virginia Catholic Conference. Nice picture of the front yard of the rectory this morning: fortunately we did not get much snow...but what did come our way looks very pretty and caused no major inconvenience: best kind of snow storm!
2/17/24:
Inclement weather update:
As the snowstorm seems to have failed to hit our area with much accumulation.....the Church will open on time and the 8am morning Mass will take place as scheduled.
2/16/24: As we anticipate the snow storm that will begin tonight and carry through until 5 or 6am tomorrow morning ...the following schedule changes for tomorrow, 2/17/18 are being posted:
All scheduled morning programs and activities, including the 8am daily Mass, are canceled: to allow sufficient time for the parking lot and sidewalks, etc...to be plowed and cleared. The Church will be opened at 11:30am for the 12pm Viewing and 1:00pm Funeral. At present all afternoon and evening activities and events will proceed as scheduled.
Don't miss the first Lenten Soup Supper this Friday! Join us for Stations of the Cross at 5PM, 7PM, or 8PM in the Church.
Both daily Masses will take place on time today...as will Exposition.
In anticipation of the inclement weather forecast for tomorrow morning, Loudoun County Schools have made the decision to close tomorrow: the parish will wait to see how things develop in the early morning hours before making a decision on whether the 7am daily Mass and 8am Exposition are canceled; we anticipate that the 12pm Mass will likely be held as scheduled. Please look for an update tomorrow morning .

12:00 pm Mass & Distribution of Ashes

2023 has been a great year for the St. John's Music Ministry! In the fall, we added ten new singers to our Adult choir, many new young choristers to our Children's Choir, and a new cantor just this past month. We also started the St. John's Instrumental Ensemble, which has a rotating roster of eight musicians (including string, brass, and guitar players) and plays at the 9am Mass. In November, our choir sang the Fauré Requiem as part of the All Souls Day Liturgy. In December, our Children's Choir had a successful collaboration with The Reston Chorale (video included here) AND our combined choirs offered a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols with a wide assortment of readers representing the children's choir, adult choir, lectors, and clergy. Over the course of the year, our Concert Series featured three different programs: in February, Cantor Brown and the La Poesia cello quartet; in April, cellist Ana Topalovic and Mezzo-soprano Tanya Langlois; in October, cello Vasily Popov. Coming up on February 10, 2024 - just before Lent - is the St. John's Cabaret, a variety show hosted by our cantors and featuring performers from our music ministry and beyond. More details to be announced in January! If you'd like to be part of what we're doing in 2024, please email Dr. Langlois at [email protected]. We'd love to welcome you into our ministry, whether it's singing in the Adult Choir, Spanish Choir, or Children's Choir, playing with our Instrumental Ensemble, helping with the Concert Series or other special events, or you just simply to support us in some way but don't know exactly how! Making music is always a great New Year's resolution.
This past Saturday, our Children's Choir joined the Youth and Treble Choirs from St. John the Beloved at The Reston Chorale's holiday concert. Here they are singing Trevor Manor's arrangement of The First Noel.
