Tomorrow we will be nearing the end of our study in Philippians as we explore Phil. 4:6-9. The emphasis is on the peace of mind we have in Christ Jesus. Consider v.7 from our passage “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. Our peace is not determined by our circumstances but rather our relationship with Christ. Guard is a military term that means to set up a wall around something.
Sunday evening will be our monthly “Singspiration”. Great time to lift our voices to God and be blessed with special music from our own people.

We are nearing the end of our time in Philippians as enter chapter 4. This chapter revolves around “Rejoicing”. We are encouraged to have the mind of Christ (Phil. 2:5). Each chapter has a theme; chapter one having a gospel mind, chapter two having a humble mind, chapter three having a pursuing mind and chapter four have a rejoicing/peaceful mind. We will be looking at the first five verses of chapter four where Paul addresses a problem in the church. Unfortunately churches do have conflict and they need to be addressed.
Following the message we will fellowship around the Lord’s Table.
In the evening we will continues with our study of “The Lord’s Prayer” looking at the petition “give us this day our daily bread”. This is the first supplication concerning our needs.
Please join us tomorrow as we worship together. Dress warm as it will be in the upper 30’s.

Tomorrow we will continue with part two of “Running Hard for Home” looking at Phil. 3:16-21. Paul has stressed the need to “forget those things that are behind” and continue to move forward in our desire to be more like Christ. One of the things we will look at is who do you have in your life that you consider mentors, those whose example in daily living is worthy to emulate. We need encouragement in our lives to walk as citizens of heaven.

In the evening we will look at “Thy will be done” in the Lord’s prayer. How do we know the will of God? Join us as we look at that important question.

Tomorrow morning, we will be in Philippians 3:10-15 “Running Hard for Home” part 1. In these verses, there are six aspects of right Christian living that Paul addresses. Once a person comes to Christ, we are faced with the question of how do we then walk. Paul will give us his insights to this most important question.
At 6 PM we will continue our look at the “Lord’s Prayer” specifically Thy Kingdom Come. We live in a country that has no king and this is not something we consider often. Come join us, yes it will be cold, and enjoy some singing, fellowship and a time in God’s word.

Tomorrow we will be looking at Phil. 3:4-9. Here Paul uses his personal testimony to build upon the previous verse about not putting trust in the flesh.
In the evening service we continue with our study of the Lord’s prayer. Our focus will be on “hallowed be thy name”. It is the first of three petitions being made to the Lord. Come and join us for a time of singing and study.

Tomorrow we will continue our study of Philippians, “Studies in Humility Pt.2” Philippians 2:25-30. This is the last of the four figures mention in the chapter that help use recognize true humility when we see it. All are set in the action of service. Our last is a little-known man by the name of Epaphroditus. I thank God for the humble servants we have here at Holiday Mission, and it is a joy to serve with them.
We will also be celebrating the Lord's Table.
Sunday evening, we will be looking at the “Lord’s Prayer” considering the just the first two words: Our Father. Please join us for a night of singing and a short devotional time.

Ready to start a brand-new year? Paul, in Philippians 3, has these words for us “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” It is easy to get bogged down with the past which we can not change instead of looking forward to the future which we can affect. We tend to make new year resolutions so here are a few to consider.
I resolve to:
1. Pray more
2. Study my bible more
3. Encourage others more
This Sunday we will continue our study in Philippians looking at chap. 2:19-24. Paul will continue with the theme of humility using Timothy as an example.
Sunday evening, we will start a series on the “Lord’s Prayer”.
Looking forward to starting the new year with my church family and seeing what God has for us in 2022.

Wishing all my family at Holiday Mission and blessed and joyous Christmas.

We will be finishing up or series of Advent messages on the songs of Christmas with “Angles: Song of Peace” found in Luke 2:8-20. We have seen Zechariah’s “Song of Faith”, Mary’s “Song of Trust” and Simeon’s Song of Hope”. These all point to the promise of Christmas through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of peace.
Sunday evening will look at another Christmas hymn. This one will be new to most but I love the story behind it.

O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.

The celebration of our Savior's birth is a time to reflect on the person of Jesus—who He was, why He was sent to Earth, and what His life and death means for mankind. The virgin birth of our Redeemer was, and is, the fulfillment of God's promise to reconcile humanity to Himself. It is a time to be thankful for God's faithfulness and love for us.

Imagine waiting for generations for God to fulfill His promise of sending a King. From the moment that sin had fractured creation, God's people had been promised a Redeemer. And now, the time had come for the hopes and fears of all those years to be met in Christ.

He was the One who would crush the head of the serpent; He was the shoot from the stem of Jesse; He was the One named Immanuel.

God's people had been waiting for Jesus to come, and those who were given the wonderful news were not those who sat on thrones, or had wealth and status; no, those He favored were the outcasts—the unaccepted, the imperfect, the shepherds.

The angel's announcement was for them: "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior," (Luke 2:11) and the announcement is for us. This is the good news of Christmas. This is the good news of great joy for the outcasts living on the fringes. This is the good news of great joy for us, exactly where we are.

The baby in the manger is the fulfillment of every promise of God (2 Cor. 1:20). Christ fulfilled God's promise for Adam and Eve, for Abram, for the Israelites, for Mary and Joseph...and for us today.

May God’s peace be with you all.

Tomorrow we will be looking at the third song in the “Songs of Advent”; Simeon: A Song of Hope found in Luke 2:25-35. We have looked at Zechariah’s song of faith and Mary’s song of trust. We move on to the area of hope. Our hope is not a “I hope it happens” but rather a surety that God will act. I like the following definition of hope.
HOPE: The confidence that, by integrating God’s redemptive acts in the past with trusting human responses in the present, the faithful will experience the fullness of God’s goodness both in the present and in the future.
Biblical faith rests on the trustworthiness of God to keep His promises. Biblical hope is founded on something that provides a sufficient basis for confidence in its fulfillment: God and His redemptive acts as they culminate in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I hope you will join us tomorrow.
