FCA Celebrates Successful Year On Area Campuses
The North Lake area of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes held its annual MVP banquet on Monday evening, welcoming a large crowd of student athletes, coaches, parents, and community members to the First Baptist Church of Umatilla for an evening of celebration.
FCA operates campus âhuddlesâ on many area middle and high school campuses, with students gathering to grow their faith. Supported by adults, camp events, and leadership training activities, FCA works to build strong Christians through sports activities.
The banquet honors students and leaders who have gone above and beyond during the past school year, with over a dozen students from varying campuses honored as an âMVPâ.
Area director Bobby Rowe led the event, welcoming nearly 200 people to a dinner that preceded the program.
Lake County Commission Chair Leslie Campione served as the eventâs keynote speaker. An FCA member while a student at Eustis High School, Campione was as a high schooler named FCAâs National High School Female Athlete of the Year, an honor presented alongside legendary college basketball coach John Wooden. Campione encouraged todayâs students âKeep your eye on the ballâ.
âDonât look too far in the future. Donât become distracted. Stay focused on living a Christ-centered life. God will find a way to use you.â
Leesburg High School baseball coach Seth Doxey was named the FCA 360 Coach of the Year for his efforts to grow the faith in his program.
