Thank you to all who Served! And much Gratitude for those who gave their last full measure for this great Nation, we are forever in your debt. Thank you to all who put themselves on the line for us all. May God Bless America!

As we celebrate tomorrow, let us not forget the true meaning of this day. Since 1868, Memorial Day has been dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

For many Americans, the meaning of this holiday has faded over time. It is more than just a long weekend — it is a day to remember and honor our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and for some, even our sons and daughters, who gave their lives defending our freedoms.

Tomorrow, please take a moment to reflect on their sacrifice and honor the heroes who paid the ultimate price so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Brentley Isaiah Comer, (“BC”), 19, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2026, in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.

Brentley was born on July 22, 2006; however, on April 1, 2009, Brentley, and his older brother Michael were adopted by Peter Joseph Comer and Dawn Marie (Schlotter) Comer.

Growing up, Brentley was incredibly competitive. He participated in a variety of sports, but football was his favorite. He was always so much fun to watch on the court or field. He was so intense, you never knew what he was going to do. He had the Ricky Bobby mentality of “If you’re not first, you’re last,” yet he never bragged when he won (but you could sure tell when he lost!). When he accomplished something he set out to do, his radiant smile said everything. You always knew how he was feeling because it was on his face and his sleeve.

Brentley attended Oak Tree Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; he had an active relationship with Jesus as he continued learning Bible verses and growing in God through adulthood.

Brentley lived large in life! Less than a year after graduating from Lee’s Summit North, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale with friends Steven and Grant to explore life and pursue entrepreneurship. He worked in sales for a company called Rapid Reach Marketing. He worked hard and played harder, but he always showed up. He was reliable! People could count on him!

The word friends used the most to describe BC is legendary! He is also contagious, energetic, one of a kind, talented, compassionate, comedic, life of the party, “balllllll player!,” hard-working, and confident!

His family, friends of the family, former coaches, mentors, neighbors, and others have said his infectious smile would light up a room (or that he had a lady-killer smile); he had good energy and always brought a smile; he was truly special and impacted so many lives, and his impact will never be forgotten.

Brentley was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Robert Dale Schlotter and Shirley Jean (Brinegar) Schlotter, his brother Noah Blake Stockton; both of his maternal and paternal great-grandparents, cousins Zachary and Jayedin Brinegar and Wesley Leonard, plus many great-aunts and uncles.

Brentley is survived by his parents, Peter Joseph Comer and Dawn Marie (Schlotter) Comer, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; brothers Jonathan Comer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Michael Comer of Independence, Missouri, and Jackson Holferty of Lawrence, Kansas; his paternal grandparents John and Shirley Comer, of Independence, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in many places.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23, 2026, at The Green Residence, 9300 S. Howard, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Parking is available inside the gate, and the service will be outside. Water will be provided. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by a reception where guests are invited to stay, share a meal, and celebrate Brentley’s life. The celebration will end at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or Oak Tree Church in Brentley’s honor.
