WCC Prom Boutique

WCC Prom Boutique All dresses, tuxedoes, suits, and accessories are FREE for students. No proof of need is required. Over 1,500 dresses. Sizes 0 to 26.

WCC hosts a four-day Prom Boutique each spring for middle and high school students throughout the Kansas City area. New or gently used formal dresses and a limited number of suits are provided free of charge to students who are unable to purchase their own prom attire Dresses are sorted by size and the boutique has on-site dressing rooms. Minor alterations are provided for one dress per guest. Sho

The Prom Boutique began in 1998 in the cramped office of Sonia Clogston, a caseworker for the state of Missouri who dealt primarily with girls in foster care or other care organizations. She teamed with a Girl Scout Troop from Blue Springs for the first event with 135 dresses. Before long, the dresses were exploding out of the office doors. In 2005, Sonia partnered with the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit, and the Prom Boutique has grown exponentially ever since.

We will begin accepting donations for the 2027 Prom Boutique after Labor Day. Starting September 8, 2026, you can donate new or gently used prom dresses, suits, tuxedos, dress shoes, accessories, and more to help make prom memorable for local students.

Woods Chapel Church transformed into a free prom boutique, where 1,327 students walked out with dresses, jewelry and shoes- all donated- without spending anything.
