The early church devoted themselves to some very specific practices, and the end result was that the Lord added to their number daily. What were these practices? Do they translate to our context today? What can the church from 2000 years ago teach us today? We'll begin diving into these questions in a new worship series beginning this Sunday. I wanted to share with you all some news coming from our General Conference happening right now in South Africa: bishops for the next six years have been elected. North Alabama is part of Episcopal Area 4, which means our new bishop will be Lyndol Loyd. I hope you will join me in praising God for the work Bishop Carolyn Moore did for our Conference as well as joining in prayer for the work ahead that Bishop Lyndol Loyd will do.

Church, what a joy it was to worship together yesterday. For our modern service regulars, I hope you know how much it meant to our traditional service folks for you to be there to worship with them, and for our traditional service folks, I hope you know how much it meant to our modern service folks that you made them feel so welcome. We may not always worship in the same place or at the same time, but we truly are one church, and times like yesterday help us to remember that, help us strengthen the bonds across our services, and help unite us. We truly are all Leeds First Methodist Church together!
