During the eighth centenary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, an Extraordinary Jubilee Year has been announced by Pope Leo from Jan. 10, 2026, to Jan. 10, 2027. During this special year, it is hoped that St. Francis will inspire all people to become models of holiness and witnesses of peace. All are welcome to visit the Monastery of the Poor Clares to pray at the small shrine of St. Francis in the back of the chapel. Visitors are welcome to ring the monastery doorbell daily—from 9 -11 a.m. or from 2 - 4 p.m.—to visit the shrine and venerate the first-class relic of St. Francis. In honor of this jubilee year, a plenary indulgence may be gained by those who visit any Franciscan church, including the chapel of the Poor Clares. Leaflets are available in the chapel that further explain the prayers and conditions for the plenary indulgence.⁣

Christ is risen, alleluia, alleluia!⁣
This Easter Sunday, let us recall that Christ lives again for a purpose: to bring hope and loving kindness to the world, fearless encounter with strangers and neighbors, compassion and forgiveness to repentant sinners, to empower peacemakers and to make God the Father known to all. And to be the path to eternal life that is promised to his faithful.⁣
“Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said.”⁣
Matthew 28:5-6, excerpt from the Gospel on Easter Sunday

Good Friday – the day of Christ’s passion and death – stands as a reminder of God’s unending love for us. Withholding nothing, Christ suffered and died as reparation for the sins of his people.⁣
“So they took Jesus, and, carrying the cross himself, he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle. Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, ‘Jesus the Nazorean, the King of the Jews.’”⁣
John 19:16-19, excerpt from the Gospel during Good Friday
