Words of Hope
Father Robert M. Gillelan, Jr.
June 2, 2026
“In the waters of baptism, we die with Christ and grow with Him to a new life, a life to be lived in Christ.”

“Just as God raised Jesus from the dead, so will God raise us from the dead on the last day.”

“Resurrection and eternal life. This is the foundation of our faith.”
After we die, our life is now changed, but it’s not ended.
There is more life beyond the grave.
“This is our faith.”

“Upon the death of a loved one, it may very well be a very sad goodbye, but not forever.”

“Saint Paul says that love is the greatest of the virtues, probably because love is the one virtue that not even death can destroy.”

“The bonds of love that are forged in this life do not unravel in death, and in many cases, they grow even stronger.”

“There can be Thanksgiving after death. Thanksgiving to God for the many gifts that God bestowed upon us in this life.”

“After death, life is changed, but it’s not ended.”

Marcellinus and Peter were arrested during the brutal Diocletian persecution in the first years of the 4th century. Marcellinus was a priest and Peter an exorcist. It is said that the two continued their ministry in prison, converting many of their fellow prisoners, along with their jailor Arthemius and his wife and daughters. They were condemned to death and secretly executed in the Silva Nigra (Black Woods). Their executioner converted and shared the story of their holy deaths. A church was erected at the site in the 4th century. (Magnificat)

A fun memory from many years ago!

After Children’s Liturgy one Sunday, Ann Foster—whose funeral is being celebrated today at St. Mary’s—invited Pope Francis to stop by for a photo with the children. As you can see, he happily obliged!

Thank you, Ann. This photo still brings a smile. ❤️
( For those wondering, the “Pope” was a life-size cutout, but the smiles and memories were very real!) 😄📸

What does the mystery of the Holy Trinity have to do with our daily lives?

In this Trinity Sunday homily, Father Bob Gillelan reflects on our God who has never stopped pursuing a relationship with humanity. From God’s covenant with Moses, to Jesus calling His disciples friends, to the Holy Spirit guiding and sanctifying the Church today, Father Bob explores the many ways the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have revealed their love and desire to be close to us.

Read Father Bob’s complete homily, The Trinity: God’s Closeness.
