We've been talking about putting love into action. But here's an important question: How do we keep loving when we're tired, discouraged, or running on empty?
Jesus gives us the answer in John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches.”
A branch doesn't produce fruit by trying harder. It produces fruit by staying connected to the vine. And the same is true for us. We cannot continually pour out love unless we remain connected to the One who fills us with love. This Sunday, Pastor Steve continues our Love One Another series with “Abide in Love.”
As we continue our 30-Day Kindness Challenge, we're discovering that kindness isn't simply about doing more good things. It's about allowing the love of Jesus to take root in our lives so that compassion, generosity, forgiveness, and service become part of who we are. And sometimes growing in love means letting go of what gets in the way—resentment, judgment, fear, and the need to be right.
Our world needs more neighboring and less othering. And that begins when we remain rooted in the love of Christ. Here's your challenge for the week: Before you try to change the world, ask yourself: Am I staying connected to the One who changes me?
