Gracewood Community Church

Gracewood Community Church We invite you to come out to our casual, contemporary worship service at 9AM or 11AM Sunday mornings. What would happen if we truly embraced this mission?

How it all started...
It all began in 1982, when Lebanon, Virginia local Allen Jessee was sent out as a missionary by Lebanon Baptist Church to plant Community Heights Church. Under his direction, the church multiplied and developed leaders. One of those leaders, Tim Brown, developed a heart for multi-site in 2006 while attending Liberty University. With God-given vision and perseverance, Allen an

d Tim launched the first service as a multi-site on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Lebanon High School. Expanding the vision...
On Sunday, May 29, 2011, the church broke ground for a permanent site in Lebanon (located across from Lebanon High School at 345 Donald C. Moore Drive), and on January 12, 2014, we had our first service at the new location. On September 1, 2015, Community Heights commissioned us as a church plant and sent us to serve the Lebanon community. On July 10th, 2016, we changed our name to Gracewood Community Church. What an exciting time in the lives of so many who call Gracewood Community Church home! Where we are headed...
We’re excited to be continuing our mission of Leading People into a Growing Relationship with Jesus. We’ve stepped into our new strategy of intentionally doing life together in order to Love God, Love People, and Serve the World. At Gracewood Community Chruch, our hope is to experience continued and consistent growth in our relationship with Jesus, both individually and as a community of believers. We also want to become more like Jesus in the way we love God, love people, and serve the world. As we move forward with this mission and vision, we will see continued numerical growth which leads to greater spiritual development and a greater community impact. The ultimate story writer...
While so many have been intricately involved in the history of Gracewood Community Church, our God is the ultimate Author of this story. Gracewood and the families here are forever grateful to have a God with such a big plan and heart for His people! We'd love to have you become a part of our story!

Awana | 6:30-8 | Wednesdays during Midweek Season
It's almost time for Midweek to start back up and that means it's time to register for Awana!! Signing up early helps us prepare for learning materials and snacks, so we appreciate it. Awana for infants-6th grade meets as a part of Gracewood Midweek, and we have small groups for all other ages on campus too! If you haven't found your sweet spot for Gracewood Midweek yet, maybe working with Awana is a good fit. Both sign ups will be linked in the comments.
Cannot wait to be with you again soon!!

Honduras Update | Travel Day

What a week! Please pray for traveling mercies today, that our team would not experience delays or canceled flights, but that they'd be able to get through all checkpoints and gates quickly without issues. We have missed them and are thankful they'll be home soon!

If you would like to hear from the team about their experiences this week, join us at Gracewood Sunday, July 12th- they'll be sharing during our 9 and 11am services that day. We are anxious to hear from them!

Honduras Update | Ministry Day 6

This morning, the team handed out the last of the water filtration buckets and showed those who came how to use and clean them. They also shared the Gospel with those who came. The water filters will help them have clean drinking water for up to 10 years!

While the water filters were being given out, more ladies came for the second health clinic, led by Daphne and Stephanie. The rest of the team hung out with the children, playing with the soccer ball and coloring, while the mothers attended.

After lunch, the team headed into Yoro, as is custom, to visit the local supermarket, and a nearby coffee shop. Upon return, it was time for dinner, and then they headed out for the final evening service at Getsemane Baptist (the mission church), where Miles and Travis shared their testimonies, and Justin preached.

Tomorrow, very early in the morning, our team will head to the airport and make their way back home. This week has been full of incredible memories and moments as they experienced God’s faithful hand at work in the community and in our their personal lives too. Please pray for a safe and uneventful trip home. A special thank you to everyone who has given, prayed and kept up with the updates as they've been on this wonderful journey.

Honduras Update | Ministry Day 5

The team began the day by going door to door in the community, sharing the Gospel, and encouraging and praying for those as they went. Justin stayed behind with the church leaders to hand out water filtration buckets to those in the community who the church had identified had need. They were given a way to filter clean water, and presented with the truth that Jesus is the Living Water, a great time of sharing the Gospel.

In the afternoon 95 children attended the final day of VBS. This week was such a blessing to see so many kids from the community, and we believe that many, many seeds were planted in their lives. Please pray for the Lord to continue to work in their hearts.

While VBS was taking place, Kaylin led today’s women’s Bible study, with 23 ladies in attendance. For the past couple of days, they ran out of room at the church to meet, so a neighbor who doesn’t attend the church but is a friend, opened her door to allow the meeting to take place. It was such a blessing to see God moving in ways like this.

As the team prepares for their final day in Honduras, pray that the Lord continues to bless and grow the mission church, Iglesia Bautista Getsemane, and to expand their relationship with the community as the Lord leads them forward, and that He continues to use them to bring many into the Kingdom of God.
