Leasburg United Methodist Church Come and worship with us Sunday 11am. The first church building was built 1-1/2 miles north of the present site.

It was known initially as old campground Church because of outdoor camp meetings It was known initially as old campground Church because of outdoor camp meetings held at the site. In 1836 a charter was drawn up and the local church site was named Bethany
In 1857, Leasburg Church was built at its present site, and services were moved from Bethany to Leasburg. The local Masonic order, needing a meet

ing site, helped church leaders to build a large two-story building, with the Masons using the second floor and the sanctuary the first. A century later, in 1950, a new church building replaced the old one. The current sanctuary and educational wing were dedicated on May 17,1953. A steeple with chimes was added in 1963 and a fellowship hall was added in 1967.

At the heart of this Psalm 133 is belonging. It is a psalm in praise of God, who saves us into a family, who, by grace, shows us that we belong to God and to one another. When we live into this belonging, the natural outflow is praise.

"How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD ordained his blessing, life forevermore."

Discipleship Ministries provides worship resources to help usher your congregation into this belonging and outflow of praise. Find worship graphics, song recommendations, teaching notes and more:

Resting--even resting from the work of ministry--is an act of faith. We honor God through trusting that our work will carry on even as we take a break.

May this simple breath prayer help you trust in God's provision and take some moments for refreshment and recovery.

291–0. 🙌

This week, we celebrate a new chapter on the horizon for our United Methodist siblings in Georgia.

On Tuesday evening, the delegates of the Southeastern Jurisdiction unanimously approved the unification of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church and the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church into one Georgia Conference, beginning in January 2027.

The North Carolina Conference celebrates this step toward greater unity and joins our neighbors in praying for the ministry and mission ahead.

Bishop Robin Dease put it well in her prayer after the vote.

“Turn our hearts upon the future you are preparing for us. Make this unification more than just an administrative change, oh God, but make it a holy opportunity to deepen our commitment, to widen our welcome, and to strengthen our ministries so that lives might be transformed for your kingdom’s sake.”

Where and when do you encounter stillness in your soul?

"Be Still, My Soul" (no. 534 in The United Methodist Hymnal) is an 18th-century German hymn written by Katherine von Schlegel and translated by Jane Borthwick. The song invites us to focus less on our cares and more on the strong presence of God in our lives. Though the world around us changes, God's faithfulness remains.

It is a timeless message! 🙏

The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the
Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities
and worldwide connections.

Council of Bishops - The United Methodist Church and Discipleship Ministries provided a six-week worship series to help congregations explore and embody this vision. The series is still available for download. And this week we utilize one of the prayers in the series to help bring us focus on our tasks in ministry:

Loving God,
who surrounds us with grace,
help us know your presence
and receive your guidance today,
that through our gathered worship,
we might continue to build up
the Body of Christ as we grow in maturity
as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
