This Sunday, our Ripple Effect small group is stepping into Week 3 of "Who is God?"—and we’re confronting a subject that modern culture continually runs from:
The Justice and Wrath of God.
Why does our modern, "sophisticated" society struggle so intensely with the perfection of God's justice and the necessity of His wrath?
Perhaps its because we have such an impoverished, hollowed-out understanding of what LOVE actually is. We’ve turned "love for others" into a polite, passive tolerance—a vague sentiment that smiles and looks the other way.
But love doesn't do that...
Think about it this way: if a father truly loves his children, does he not hate that which seeks to prey upon them or put them in danger? If he stands by, smiles, and allows his children to be devoured, you wouldn't praise him for being a great father...you would call him a coward and a fool (and probably alot worse).
This week, we will use Scripture to explore and discuss:
-- Why God’s wrath is the necessary, holy reaction of absolute love encountering evil;
-- How His perfect justice guarantees that no one ever truly "gets away" with injustice—and why that frees us from the exhausting burden of holding grudges or seeking revenge; and
-- Why the Cross becomes even more precious to us when we truly understand the weight of the judgment Christ willingly took upon Himself, on our behalf.
Whether you’ve walked with Jesus for decades or you’re brand new to the faith, there is a seat reserved for you. Bring your Bible and an open heart, and let's get into the Word together!
