Nameless Cemetery

Nameless Cemetery Historic Nameless/Fairview Cemetery with earliest burial in 1882. In 1906 Bell Turner deeded land to Travis County for a cemetery and school.

The Cemetery association was formed in 2009 to help preserve and upkeep the cemetery.

Walter Madison Briggs was born on April 14, 1881 to Avery H. and Rhoda E. Cox Briggs. He was one of 7 children born to them. His brother Silas is also buried at Nameless Cemetery. He never married.
He worked as a farmer and rancher his whole life. He passed away on June 5, 1960.

Silas L. Briggs and wife Virgie Mae Fulkes Briggs are buried at Nameless Cemetery. Silas was born Feb. 17, 1886 in Travis Co., Texas to Avery Hoyt and Rhoda E. Cox Briggs. He was the second of nine children born to them. He was a farmer most of his life. Silas died on July 18, 1944.
Virgie Mae Fulkes Briggs was born Feb. 26, 1893 in Leander, Texas to William "Bill" and Laura McClendon Fulkes. She was second of six children born to them. She first married William Browning in 1915 and had one daughter Sidney M. Browning. After Virgie's first husband passed away she married Silas Briggs. Virgie was a sister to Edd Fulkes who many knew in the Leander area. She passed away May 19, 1957.

Ollie Byron Lohman was born 27 Sept 1912 and died 21 Sept. 1986. He was a son of Charlie & Ellen Lohman. He was a farmer for most of his life. He married Edna Allan in 1932 and had one son Byron W. Lohman. His second marriage was to Claudia E. Myers in 1949. He resided in Buda, TX at the time of his death.

Charlie Lohman and wife Ellen Dora Sylvester Lohman are buried at Nameless Cemetery. Charlie was the son of August "Gustav" Lohmann (brother to Albert Sidney Lohman) and Mary E. "Minnie" Cantwell Lohman. He was born 10 Feb 1879 in Richland Springs, San Saba Co., Texas and died at age 77 on 30 Nov 1956 in Travis Co.,Texas where he spent most of his life. He was a farmer most of his life. They did move to Bishop,Texas in 1916 when daughter Dorothy, was 8 yrs. old. They moved there in a covered wagon as she recalled. By the time she was a young teen-ager they moved back to the Travis-Williamson County area. Charlied played the fiddle as did a number of the Lohman family including his cousin Baldy Lohman from Leander. Charlie married Ellen Dora Sylvester in 1899. Ellen was born 5 Feb 1883 and died 22 March 1966 at age 83. She was the daughter of James "Jim" and Sallie Emma Briggs Sylvester. Sallie Emma is buried at Nameless also. Charlie & Ellen Dora had 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys.

Mary Elizabeth Cantwell-Lohman was born in 1857 to William C. and Nancy Finch Cantwell. She died 7 August 1895. Mary married Gustav Lohman 22 Oct. 1874 in Travis Co., Texas. Gustav was a son of John Henry Lohman and an uncle to Van Lohman who is buried at Nameless. Gustav was buried at a different place. Together Mary & Gustav had 8 known children, two of which are buried at Nameless Cemetery, Mary Elizabeth born 1876 and died 1890 and son Charles "Charlie" Lohman born 1879 died 1956.
The picture of the two little children is supposedly Mary Cantwell and older brother James "Jim".

Some of those who came for the work-day at Nameless on Saturday, April 11th. We had 9 people come. We got it mowed, and weed-eated, even though everything was wet when we first got there!
