The motorcycle rider who lost his bike when it caught on fire and burned, at the location of our Cross. In this photo, he said he was facing the cross, thanking God for sparing his life. It was giving him trouble and he stopped there where the burned area is, on the ground. When he stopped, it burst into flames . . . but God . . .

Motorcycle accident, driver walks away. No better place to lay down your motorcycle, than at the cross, if laying it down is meant to be. Driver didn't actually have to lay it down. It malfunctioned and when he stopped, it caught on fire. So thankful that he could walk away. 🙏🏻

What an incredible day it was as the South Mississippi Cross was raised. It was a moment filled with faith, emotion, and gratitude—a day that many of us will remember for the rest of our lives.

We're excited to share this short video capturing that unforgettable moment, along with a few words from our President about what this Cross means to our community and everyone who helped make it possible.

Thank you to every person who prayed, donated, volunteered, worked, and believed in this vision. Because of you, what once seemed like a dream is now standing tall. 💛

While the Cross is up, our mission continues. There is still work to be done to complete the site and ensure it remains a place of hope, reflection, and faith for generations to come.

📣 SMCC Meeting – Join Us! 📣

Now that the Cross has been raised, our work is far from over! ✝️

Join us for our first official South Mississippi Cross of Christ meeting since the Cross was raised!

Tuesday, July 21st
1:00 PM
First Church of Lucedale

This meeting is open to everyone, so bring your family, friends, and anyone who would like to be part of this mission!

We'll be discussing what's next as we continue moving forward with the project, including fencing, lighting, paving, landscaping, and other improvements to the Cross site. We also want to ensure this special place is maintained for generations to come.

The raising of the Cross was a tremendous milestone, but it is just the beginning. We hope you'll join us as we continue building something that will impact our community for years to come.

Good evenings for beautiful sunsets behind the Cross

Based on the latest forecasts, another plume of Saharan dust has been moving into parts of the Gulf Coast this week, so if skies are fairly clear this evening or over the next couple of days, you have a good chance of seeing enhanced sunset colors in southeast Mississippi.

Initiating Phase 3A: Bringing Electricity to the Site. We are grateful for the contributions from Tri State Pole and Piling, who donated the posts and wood for the wall to house the electrical panel, and Garner Lumley Electric, who provided the necessary electrical materials. Shown is Lee Hedegaard getting the first steps towards securing electricity established. Nightly illumination of the Cross is coming soon.
