Yall,
It was very hard for me to say to the church family yesterday after the vote that "the motion is carried, we will be dissolving the church". I felt like I had just sentenced a family member to death but OakCreek is now the seed that will die so that many more churches can grow. John 12:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." One interesting observation I had was both before and after the vote several people were wrapped up in what do we do next, how do we get our property distributed to others. From this I realized two things, People are moving forward through this valley that we find ourselves in and One way to grieve this loss is to put your mind to the task of dealing with the leftovers instead of just stopping and reflecting on who we are as OakCreek, where we came from and those that we will miss once we have moved on. I had the opportunity to do the second one of just stopping as I drove home on Sunday and again this morning on my way to work. We all need to grieve our losses but we should celebrate as well. OakCreek has had an amazing place in God's kingdom. Our little embassy of God's kingdom in League City has seen many turn to faith in the Lord, reached out to the community through events and after school programs and prayed up many, many hours to our Lord plus had some awesome worship and learning through the years. As we grieve lets remember to celebrate as well. Join us for our celebration of the life of OakCreek next Sunday at 10:30 AM. I'm sure there will be tears but I expect there to be a lot of laughter as well as we love on each other and our Lord one last time as Oakcreek Bible Church.
